never never never get an insurance policy with them. in person, they can not help you. call in over an hour and a half wait on the phone. the worst in customer service.

The worst customer service I have seen at RBC. I liked that place about 1,5 years ago, when I went there in Nov 2017. When I came back recently at 4 pm, the office was open, but they could not provide the service, because the guy who deals with home insurance policies left at 3:30 PM(because he lives far away) and the rest of them could not help. If the office is open why should I care about someone's leave? I came back the other day at 11:30 am that guy(dealing with home insurance) left for a cup of coffee, so I had to wait for him. That is not the service.

I was 7 years with RBC insurance now RBC Aviva insurance for both my home (paid policy in full upfront) every year, Auto Insurance & life. My experatation date had ended on my credit card used to make installment payments on auto policy only. So the payment went NSF. My yearly policy for auto had just renewed. Not realizeing I was sent a letter stating your policy was canceled in 15 days. Hoping to not have any interruption in service I offered to pay the polacy premium in full (1 pay) as I do my house insurance & they still where unwilling to continue coverage. I have a clean driving record with zero claims ever. I was told by RBC that I would have to re apply and the only acceptable for is written application not over the phone & would take 3 to 4 weeks to re issue a policy. You see this was done by RBC Aviva so they can raise premiums. What s joke shame on Royal Bank of Canada for putting their name on this garbage business practice!!

Rude sales agent...higher rates...FBI trained underwriters ?. You talk to them and they make you believe that you actually don't deserve any insurance but they are kind enough to give you one (but at 3x higher rate) ?? Salesperson asked me to get letter of experience from my previous US based company. When I get it. She said... it's 4 years ago so we won't consider it... woww. Thankfully I got insurance from another company with 35% less annual premium. RBC insurance running through Aviva is the worst business decision.

'RBC' is just a facade for name recognition, it's actually Aviva Insurance. Despite having a house-sitter Aviva completely cancelled my home insurance 30 days after I moved out because they won't insure 'vacant' homes. Once you manage to sell your house the legal/inspection work alone usually takes an extra 30 days so Aviva *will* leave you totally uninsured. Adding incompetence to unhelpfulness: I updated my address with RBC but they didn't tell their insurance branch, so they sent the insurance-cancellation note to my old address and by the time it was forwarded to me I had 10 days to find a new insurance company for a house I would only end up owning another month anyways. The notice also contained a typo, claiming both that my insurance was cut off as of September 1st AND as of August 9 (a week AFTER I received the letter). RBC was friendly but powerless, Aviva did not respond to multiple phone calls, nor e-mails, nor to their "wE cAre abOUt yoUR ExPeRieNce" 'satisfaction' survey. Thank you to Co-operators Insurance, the only company willing to save me from this nightmare.
