Raging Elk Adventure Lodging - Fernie

I'm so glad I took a moment to browse the website before I determined where to stay earlier this week on my drive through! The new deluxe pods were such a cool experience. Was actually my best experience on my trip across the country. A special thanks to the young guy at the desk who took my call and kindly assured he would wait on my arrival, should it take longer than Google said! All the staff were very pleasant and I had a very comfortable stay for the one night. Wish I could have stayed longer.

I was very pleasantly surprised. This was our (myself and my sister’s) first stay in a hostel, ever. I’m glad we chose this one. Sadie was most friendly and willing to give us a tour before we made our decision; we saw the building was well-maintained, amenities were adequate, and the family room provided complete privacy with its own bathroom!! That was the clincher ??. We would have stayed a second night if the room was available. The bunkbeds were fun; remarkably comfortable. Quality of the sheets? Impressive. There was plenty of storage for our belongings. The bathroom was clean and hot water in abundance. That shower felt wonderful. I will be staying at the Raging Elk Adventure Hostel in the future. No question about that!!

Private room was perfect for a short ski trip. Pool table and ping pong table in the basement were a fun plus. Only a few minutes away from fernie alpine resort and central location in town.

I am not your typical 'hostel' visitor. I hate to admit I am middle-aged (although young in spirit), but it is what it is. My travel schedule changed, and I needed a place with three requirements: Cheap, WiFi, and a place to plant my head for a few hours of sleep. I hit the jackpot here. Made a reservation with three hours notice, staff was upbeat and incredibly accommodating, bar atmosphere was fantastic. I needed a place to work, and they have an entire rec room (and kitchen) that wasn't in use at all, which was perfect. I worked until 3:30am, and the staffer that checked in said it was absolutely no problem, and just hit the lights when I was done. The pod was clean and completely as advertised. The only two issues were plumbing (toilets) in dire need of repair as there were a few with leaks (the one in the recreation area was bad enough that I had to disable the valve as it was wasting a gallon of water every several minutes). A very confusing thing was the lack of USB charging in the pods though. There was ample space for a USB Outlet (or at least have a wall-wart available in the cubby). I had to charge my phone through the laptop, through the plug-in. With the low cost of outlets and ease of access to the electrical, hopefully this will be resolved before the summer season hits!

Some staff are very unfriendly. Stayed for two weeks and my room was not cleaned once never was offered a clean towel or clean bedding. Staff complained about giving me an extra scoop of ice for my water bottle because they would have to go downstairs for more when there was a full bucket in front of them. Sustained a back injury on my last night here and asked for an extra hour on my checkout time and was denied. Owner absolutely flipped out on a neighbor to the building right in front of me cursing and talking like a lunatic. Honestly unless you’re only staying for one night I wouldn’t recommend staying. It’s dirty with unfriendly and unocommodating staff.

I stayed in a deluxe POD for a week. They are well designed. The facilities are just what you need and more which is great. The owners are nice people. The staff are friendly and helpful. I found the Elk to be an excellent hostel and I reccomend it to anyone travelling and especially those open to the hostel experience. The kodiak lounge has some great events including a fun and inclusive Monday night Jam session. Thank you Raging Elk!

I had an amazing experience at the Kodiak Lounge and Raging Elk! I drove from Calgary to entertain the crowd at the Kodiak and they were terrific! What a great crowd of people! Sadie did a great job accommodating this artist and the vibes were off the hook in the bar. Great place to stay or just enjoy a night out at Fernie! They even hooked me up with a lift ticket to the ski hill which I took advantage of, I thought that was just wonderful!!!

Good quality for the price, friendly staff and has a bike storage! I will stay there again! The hot water in the shower was great! Was impressed with the wood work and new deck! Waking distance to all amenities!
