Elk View Lodge - Fernie

We used the Elk View Lodge for our wedding this summer, and it was such a hit our friends are already asking for a «wedding reunion» so we can do it all again. The perfect venue for your wedding!!!

We had a large booking taking over the whole lodge. We found it easy to access the ski hill and head into town if we felt the need for dinner out or just a grocery run. The house is way bigger than the photos and website give it credit for. I am all ready planning my next adventure back with a whole new group of people!

My husband and I booked Elk View Lodge for 3 nights for our June 21, 2019 wedding. It was the perfect venue for us. We wanted a place where we could host our friends and family, spend quality time together, be outside, and do things at our own pace and our own way. Also, considering we were planning a June wedding in the mountains, we loved that Elk View Lodge had amazing indoor and outdoor spaces. Due to the weather, we chose to have our ceremony inside on the beautiful upper floor landing but, we were able to host some of the cocktail hour and toasts outside on the lawn and deck. Our guests loved the hot tub on the roof and the games room. Despite having to share accommodations, the rooms are spacious and there are enough bathrooms and everyone was very comfortable. We really appreciated the recent updates that Shantelle and Andy have been working on - new glasses and cutlery, new paint, new bedding, new BBQ, new fencing + the road/parking lot have been widened. It is great to see this place with owners who are really invested in it. That said, this venue comes with it's "quirks" - some closets that need to be cleaned out/organized, the furniture is older and slightly mismatched and there is a very random selection of pots, pans and cookware in the kitchen (we brought 2 griddles to cook breakfast) This stuff didn't really matter much to us personally and overall, we were very very happy with this venue. This is the ideal spot for the laid-back bride and groom who want an intimate and fun weekend in the mountains with their friends & family. Plus, I expect that the improvements will continue under Andy & Shantelle's ownership. One final note - planning a DIY wedding does come with it's unique set of challenges - make sure you have a group of friends and family who are willing to help with set-up and cleaning. This was a big job and we were lucky to have such an amazing group of people there helping us! Having a day of coordinator also REALLY REALLY helps - Lush Kootenay Weddings & Events is amazing!

Me and the family decided to take a last minute trip to Fernie this Summer and thankfully the Elkview lodge had an opening for the week. It worked out perfectly as we had the opportunity to enjoy a very beautiful place and were able to invite friends and family to come and enjoy the stay with us. We really came very un-prepared but the lodge had everything we needed and more. With plenty of amenities very close it made for a wonderful stay and that comfort of home being able to bbq and cook rather then eating out. It was very quiet and beautiful, everything in the lodge exceeded our expectations. It was very clean and has an absolutely stunning layout that allowed the kids to do their thing and the adults get some time. We definitely got good value in our stay and hats off to the owners Shantelle and Andy Weir definitely made sure we were comfortable and were able to help answer any questions we had about what to do and cool things to see in the area. Went White water rafting with Canyon Raft Company and definitely recommend to anyone that has not been. What an unbelievable place to host a wedding weekend with all of our friends and family in a beautiful winter wonderland!! We booked the lodge for a 4 day long weekend in February and got married on the Sunday. We arrived on Friday and Jess was there to meet us, show us around, and help us get settled in. She was incredibly professional and easy to deal with, and available at the drop of a hat to address any questions we had throughout our stay. She even arranged for the driveway to be plowed on very short notice right before our wedding. The lodge itself is beautiful, clean, well appointed, and everything we could have asked for. There have been some recent upgrades and it's all amazing. The views from the deck, and especially the rooftop hot tub, are spectacular. All in all, this is an amazing venue with an amazing and supportive management team. We can't recommend it highly enough. We originally booked over a year before the wedding, and during the time after we booked, but before we arrived, some of the posted reviews were a bit concerning, siting issues of difficulty reaching and interacting with management, the lodge being in a state of disrepair, etc. We can emphatically say that this was not our experience at all. Since Jessica took over the management of the lodge in September, we have had an overwhelmingly positive experience. She answers calls/texts/emails promptly, addresses any and all concerns or questions, and was incredibly professional and easy to deal with. She had totally reasonable expectations for how the lodge should be left and couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating.

We hosted our wedding at Elk View Lodge and had such a wonderful time! The space was perfect for our families to enjoy inside and out. The view is amazing and the house itself was bright and clean. It was great to have the space to ourselves for three nights, so we could enjoy the company of our guests before and after the wedding. Thank you Shantelle and Andy!

We had our wedding here and it was the perfect venue for us. We loved that we had control over all the details - from choosing our caterers, bringing in our own alcohol and having both indoor/outdoor options for the ceremony itself. We lucked out with perfect weather and were able to fully appreciate the beautiful mountain background. We had a number of comments from the guests itself about what a nice spot it was for a wedding. The owners were also super accommodating dealing with our many questions and requests leading up to the big day. Would def. recommend!

We just had our wedding here this past weekend and it was fantastic. The "hands off" approach really made us able to appreciate our guests and company, without worrying about lodge staff. The ability to chose our own caterers, decorations, alcohol service etc, was absolutely perfect for us as a couple. I would highly recommend this place for couples looking to tie the knot, but it would be great for family reunions, birthdays or anniversary parties. Just couldn't be happier!
