★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Interesting you can't leave a review on your FB page. So I'll do it here. I planned my entire afternoon around the fact that you had a pretty good covid plan on your site. None of which was in place. Opportunity was given to leave the boat, so I was first off. It was too crowded and only half of us were masked (not at all what I thought would be in place.)
When I pointed it out to the skip he was rude and dismissive, pointing out he was busy and didn't need my business anyway. I'll be sure to tell all my other old lady friends that PI Ferry (and by extension, the restaurant) doesn't need my business. The only place to go over there is the restaurant, as there are no other amenities for visitors.

It's a reliable hourly service and on busy days when crossings are full they will do a double run so your wait is cut in half. It's a quaint and rustic coastal experience that is a great bookend experience of the floating pub!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When you visit Vancouver Island it's a must to explore Nanaimo. It sits in the middle of all things to do for the adventurous. Protection Island & The Dinghy Dock Pub sit across the Harbour but only accessible by boat.
The Protection Island Ferry is about a ten minute ride across the calm Harbour waters. An enjoyable way to travel to see the Island and possibly a real life Pirate. The Foot Ferries are well maintained and clean.
I highly recommend an Adventure across Nanaimo's Harbour in a Protection Island Ferry.
