Nicest lady! Legit Ethiopian coffee and so modestly priced. I love this place

I called to find out if the cafe was open (Google Maps had it listed as "permamently closed"). The woman who answered the phone just said "hello." I had to ask if I was calling the cafe and she responded like I was burdening her. How about announcing the business name when someone calls?

Wonderful café, catering to the local Eritrean community. Yes it was closed for a few years (I was devastated). It has since reopened! Was stranded by a TTC outage and stopped in randomly many years ago. Bought a book around the corner and sat there for hours. Amazing spiced tea and fresh (traditional) doughnuts (like really excellent). In addition to the above, the lady who runs the place is an absolute gem, and the clientele is super friendly. Although she speaks functionally no English, the owner is without a doubt the most gracious host I've ever experienced at a Toronto coffee joint. It's like the place is run by your grandmother, and all her Eritrean regulars help facilitate the transactions. I asked her to split a bill so I could use a payphone and she just went and gave me the business phone (which was her private cell btw). Which brings me to some of the seriously negative reviews this place has received on Google. This is seriously UNFAIR. One reviewer appears to be outraged by the owner's "tone" and "professionalism." Again, this woman is an incredibly hard-working immigrant Canadian with limited English skills, providing a service largely to the local working Eritrean-Canadian community. The atmosphere does not at all conform to the Western Starbucks standard, and it's not another bloody nitro café, so if you're going to be snobbish about business professionalism please do not come here. You will ruin it for everyone.

Tadelechi makes the most wonderful banana leaf bread! She's so sweet and makes healthy, good food. Bring your travel mug to this local gem for spiced tea and the aforementioned bread and you'll be set. Open in the late afternoons until late.

Very unique cafe that serves authentic Ethiopian coffee and pastries and bread. The owner is extremely welcoming and nice. They don't accept cards, and she was nice enough to let me pay next time, because I didn't have cash. They sell green coffee beans that you can roast at home, or they can be roasted old style in a pan here. Probably a small amount though. But you have the freshest coffee. Definitely coming back.
