Although I wouldn't recommend that in hindsight, Elizabeth and her team were outstanding in being responsive, professional and simply incredible in taking care of all the hurdles that surfaced during the day! Thank you very much to Elizabeth, Riley and the whole team at Paperclip Law for their expertise! I would not hesitate in using them again... for any of my legal needs!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I guess we had high expectations for hiring a lawyer rather than a notary which after our experience, could have been the same price as well as for the same attentiveness that we received from previous sales. We suggest reviewing all documents very carefully, question the lawyer (or articling students) on everything that you think isn't being read or attended to. Review your statement of adjustments carefully and ensure that you understand how things are calculated. This is important if you are not buying a property (as the buyer prepares the documentation - not the seller's lawyer) to review the wording and ensure things are covered. The lawyers are not accountants and once you sign off on a bill or document, it's pretty much out of your hands. You pretty much sign away your rights with that 1 line disclosure that any issue between buyer & seller is between you and goes beyond land title registration. That's how they cover themselves. (gotta love lawyers). Have everything done in writing before and during your sale/buy process. Also remember that any communication between the founder, office manager, and lawyer may not have been relayed, so again, have everything in writing/email. Otherwise, this firm is better than others.

Every single time I have referred someone to Paperclip Law, they have been very pleased with the service. Elizabeth and her team are always upfront about pricing, terms, and all expectations. I hope to continue to work with them for years to come. And on a personal note, Elizabeth is incredibly sweet and very fun to work with.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I used Paperclip Law to handle my condo purchase. At first it seemed like it was going smooth and everything was quick and easy. Shortly after I took possession, the strata company started coming after me for fees, this was due to an error in the closing documentation Elizabeth Mah sent me. She gave me the wrong information and this lead to me owing money I wasn’t aware of. I tried to contact Paperclip and the phones just ring and nobody answers, I sent emails and got a three word answer, “looking into this” and never heard back from them. I kept sending emails and eventually Elizabeth Mah responding that it was an error they made and told me to pay the fees so I don’t get any fines. Closing was March 31st, it’s now June 3rd. This has been going on forever and they just now tell me to pay it. I can’t stress how unprofessional and unresponsive this organization is to do dealings with. Do yourself a favour and just call them and you will see nobody answers the phone, if you want responsiveness, this isn’t the place to use for a home purchase. Not to mention they had made mistakes with the paperwork, and that’s the whole reason you hire a lawyer for a home purchase.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We used Paperclip Law for my father's estate. I had a bad feeling from our initial meeting when someone who looked to be just out a law school was running the show. Their team didn't come across as competent or professional. In the end, they failed to follow-up with key stakeholders in a timely manner, important filings were missed, and their estimated probate times were extremely wrong (e.g., quoted 4 to 5 weeks after filing, when it would be 3+ months after filling and 8 months since we started the entire process). We also dealt with several different lawyers as many left the firm during a short window of time (which likely contributed to the poor management of our file). This jeopardized the sale of a family member's home. In an email they stated, "I can understand your frustration and I apologize on their behalf. We’ve had some people leave Paperclip, because frankly, not everyone met the standard of service we want here." Well, that's just not good enough. In an already very stressful time, this added hassle is inexcusable. In the end, they didn’t deliver, and we had to find different lawyers. If you want good and efficient service, use a different firm and avoid the headache.
