About Okotoks Recreation Centre
Council Policies are Council’s instructions to the Town Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and the organization. They set the long-term vision for the organization, establish limitations in which the CAO can operate in, connect its governance direction to management action, and describe their role and how it fulfill its accountability to the community and itself.
In 2021, Council adopted the Policy Governance Framework, which is a comprehensive set of integrated principles designed to enable accountable leadership. The framework enables Council to govern in an efficient and accountable manner by allowing Council to:
- focus on the larger issues:
- rigorously evaluate the accomplishment of the organization; and
- truly lead the organization.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Love this little hockey town! This is a great multiplex but the ice surface of one isn't the best to watch a game. Very low seating. But the rest of the facility is top notch. Has a concession. Pool. 2 ice surfaces. Friendly staff.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great recreational center. Many activities for kids, family and retired people. Exceptional staff. They always happy to help. There is many options to choose from. We like loonie toonie days that allow to enjoy swimming pool for the great price. It is not usually busy during loonie toonie days all year long. Okotoks Recreational Centre is also conveniently located and easy to find.

Only complaint - family change room has been combined into an inclusive change room and it was overwhelmed; wait lines to shower and change, not any space to get babies dressed or have older children wait out of the way, and just generally chaotic beyond what I’ve experienced elsewhere. Might be worth looking into having both a family change room and an inclusive one.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a disappointing swimming pool. Hubby and I visit many and this was by far the worst. Agree staff are nice and the facilities in the change area good and clean (nice benches with lockers to change and private showers/ change slots). But enter the pool and that’s where it ends. Someone took it into their head to paint the whole thing grey and even put up grey window blinds. A pool should be colorful to exude fun and cheeriness rather than gloomy grey especially since its a children’s play area. Unlike most pools usually decorated up with lots of color, this one is gloomy. There’s really no children’s swim area with water spouts, etc like common in other pools. Thankfully there is the one water slide but nothing beyond that which most pools have. And we went for the hot tub which although a decent size is not hot at all and has no water jets to speak of (turn them on and very little happens). The place is really disappointing considering Okotoks is a family town and one would expect the pool to exemplify this. It really needs lots of work/upgrades and we will definitely be making the trip into Calgary next time for our next pool outing in search of something better. Okotoks town council you need to do a lot of work here.
