Staff were friendly and helpful, carrying my suitcase up to the top floor. The rooms and bathrooms are spotless! I’ve stayed here several times over the years. It’s a great hostel in a great location. Look forward to their breakfast and dinner returning after covid.

This hostel was great overall for the two nights that I spent there. The kitchen and dining area promoted socializing while also being quite spacious. The kitchen had two ovens/stoves, and two sinks. The basement had large day storage cabinets and you're able to rent a lock at the front desk. The staff were really great as well. The only thing that wasn't great was the mouse scurrying in the hallway in the middle of the night when I got up to go to the bathroom. Everything else was fantastic though.

Spent a weekend in the capital, and stayed here. The room was pretty small, but this is pretty standard for hostels, as I understand. The staff were friendly and helpful, the complimentary breakfast was quite handy, and there was a parking garage not too far away. Honestly, Ocean Island is precisely what I was looking for: a place to store our bag, and a bed to return to at the end of the day. Not for everyone, but good for people on a budget. If you don't have a car, things are pretty close by, and transit is good.

The hosts were welcoming and kind; the inn was conveniently located to go to certain places within Victoria. I was able to reach someone that helped me readjust the room a friend and I stayed in without paying a late fee. As for the room, I would recommend a small ladder to be used to reach the upper bunk bed. I was able to sleep comfortably and appreciated the inn's rule of being quiet by 11 pm. We were free to go to the bathroom past that time if needed.

I was very surprised with my stay at this hostel! The dorm room and bathrooms were so clean, ample safe locker space, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the breakfast service was very generous, the location is great... just perfect! The shared kitchen is not always great but you can't expect all patrons to be good at washing their own dishes I guess. Overall, the best hostel I've stayed at in BC, I will definitely be back.

I love this hostel! Fantastic service, great vibes, great location. The ONLY thing was the communal kitchen could use some bigger dry rack situations, maybe a bleach dip basin also. But honestly pretty clean and comfy for a hostel. I love the private room options. Just enough space for 2, very cozy. I've been here twice, and will definitely return again!

I have been going to the Ocean Island Inn every time I go to Victoria for what I am sure is coming to 10 years at this point, that alone should indicate how highly I think of this place. My review now would probably be the same as any other time I have been there. The location is absolutely perfect, you really can't ask for a better location as it is central to anywhere you want to go to in the Downtown Victoria area. The staff have always been nice and knowledgeable to me. Whenever I have had questions or needed assistance they have always helped me out. The rooms and shared spaces are always clean. The atmosphere is also great in this place. The only knock and it is a minor one for me is that given the age of this building the walls and such are thin so you can sometimes hear what is going on outside (usually doors closing) however from my experience most people are respectful and are quiet. It is often very quiet from 11pm to around 8am. I am a very early bird and I have very rarely found noise to be a problem. The price is also very affordable, for someone who can only travel on a strict budget (thus why I go to Victoria so much) this place is perfect for me for when I need a weekend get away without hurting my bank account. I really can't see any reason not to give it 5 stars. If you are looking for a good affordable option then this is the place you should consider. If any of my friends needed a place to stay when in Victoria this place would be the first place I would recommend to them.

FANTASTIC I stayed for 4 night for the first time and I will be back. I’m retired and worked dealing with people my entire career so I recognize NICE people quickly. Nice doesn’t cover the staff they are way better than nice they are GREAT HELPFUL POLITE ACCOMMODATING. I cannot think of a place I’ve stayed where I received better and respectful treatment?. Yes rooms are small but I sleep there I don’t entertain there. Other guests are nice and polite and friendly. Kitchen is more than big enough for guest use and the provided meals where total unexpected. Quiet time is actually quiet This place the staff the guests and location can’t be beat? Give it a whirl I guarantee it will be a happy memory??
