Obsession Spa & Beauty Academy - Calgary

My 3 year nailiversary with this salon is coming so I thought about time to leave a review! Visiting Cera every 4-5 weeks for nails for three years definitely means I have some experience with this salon. The nails are perfect. Period. They are structurally sound and structurally gorgeous. If you are going to pay to have your nails done they should be done right and not damage the natural nail and should look gorgeous! You can tell by looking at the nails I get done here that they are quality, they last and look elegant - they never look cheap because she builds and shapes the nail correctly. The new salon space in the COW HOUSE is probably the most instagrammable fun places to boot! It has such a fun and femme vibe! Cera is honestly a godsend. With the nails she puts on me I feel like a goddess, even in my sweatpants. Aside from aesthetics, long lasting nails and a cute salon, Cera has a CLEAN space. She was disinfecting after each client before Covid, she used fresh tools gloves and wore a mask BEFORE Covid. She cared about cleanliness and safety from day one. This is a place I trust with my safety three years ago AND now. I am a compulsive hand washer so it's safe to say I have a thing about ensuring cleanliness lol!

I got my nails done by Rebecca and I am blown away I can’t stop looking at them. They are so beautiful. I felt extremely welcomed when I walked in. I was a first time customer and was given a little goodie bag with some cuticle oil, nail glue and a nail brush to clean under my nails. Rebecca when she was done handed me all the buffer pads and nail files that she had used on me which showed me that they never use the same products on other people. They were very reasonably priced I got 10 designs on my nails and it only cost $78. I was asked when I walked in if I wanted water what my music preferences because they play music when you’re there.

I don't think I've ever had a better experience at a salon than I had here. Brooke did my mom's gel manicure and my mom was so impressed by the quality of the work and by Brooke's super personality and conversation making. Amberly did a full acrylic set on me - and this was the FIRST TIME that I didn't experience pain during a manicure! Amberly was so lovely and did a stunning job on my special occasion nails, educated me tons about what she was doing and why, and was just so pleasant to be around. I am beyond impressed by this salon and their investment in their clients - I can't wait to be back (plus, the exterior and interior of the salon is just so freaking cute)!

I saw Corina for a nail fill and it was a great experience! She was very welcoming and professional. I really appreciated that she took the time to explain everything that she was doing and why. Corina made my nails look amazing. She spent the time to shape them perfectly. I can't stop looking at them!

I absolutely love Obsession Spa! They really do have an amazing babe cave. If you love pink and pretty things like me you won't run out of things to look at when relaxing getting your nails done. My first set was 3 weeks ago and I was blown away at how educated they are here. I was getting my nails done every 2-3 weeks somewhere else for 6 months and just thought that was the norm.. to not be 100% happy with your nails. Lumps and bumps and chipping nails are NOT NORMAL. Cera takes such care and time with each and every nail to ensure it is absolutely perfect! She is such a true nail artist. So professional and fun to be around. I will be a loyal client here forever now. I cannot wait for mine and my moms pedicure date next month! **They guarantee their work here for 2 weeks!!** Not that they even need to as they use the best of the best products that won't disappoint. Highly recommend!

The babe cave is absolutely amazing and so beautiful. I had such a wonderful experience at obsession spa. I will definitely be going again and bringing a few friends. Love the babe cave ladies. Obsession has been my regular nail salon for over a year now. I've gone from extra long to super short and the quality of every size has been the best I've found. Corina is amazing and always makes sure I'm happy. I won't go anywhere else.

I have been going back and forth about sharing a review for this Establishment. I received acrylic nail extensions by one of the nail apprentices at Obsession. My experience at the salon was positive, and Abby was so much fun to be around. At the end of my appointment, I left satisfied and happy with my nails. I am a chronic nail biter so it’s hard to come by somebody who can work effectively with short nails and can make the nubs look good the first time. However, by the next day, nails started popping off. The full nails would just come off as if I were wearing press ons. Upon bringing this to the attention of the salon, and trying to work with them to get in to get them fixed, it was made to seem like this was my fault as a nail biter and I felt as though I was an inconvenience for voicing these concerns and not being available at all times that were offered for fixing, due to being a stay at home mom of 2. It was expressed that these things don’t often happen to them and this is why they guarantee their work. While I understand that nail biting can create different reactions in the nail bed, I have never been in the position where my nails would simply pop off after a day. Once I acknowledged this and ended up agreeing with the salon and taking responsibility as a nail biter, it seemed the tone changed back to willingness to help, and I ended up getting a few fixed by a different tech at Obsession. These nails stayed on a little longer. Unfortunately, they continued to pop off, so I decided to go elsewhere for a new set. I have not had this issue since and am going on week 3 of new extensions without any breakage. Unfortunately, I have lost out on close to $100 on nails that barely lasted a week and a half, and it is disappointing given the high recommendations I had gotten for this spa.
