Our History....

Northstar Recreation is a family owned and operated business. We are proud to be Sudbury's only full line Honda and Kawasaki dealer.

We opened our doors to Sudbury in 2005. We began as a small, 1,800 square foot repair shop in the south end of the city servicing a wide variety of recreational vehicles and equipment. Since then we have flourished into one of the city's premiere recreational vehicles and equipment enterprises. Our 11,000 square foot facility is home to our showrooms, sales team, and parts and service departments. In addition to Honda and Kawasaki products, we sell and service Makita power tools, Makita chainsaws, Easy Haul trailers and marine accessories.

In the beginning our operation was small, with only two employees and an extremely modest balance sheet. Today Northstar Recreation is home to more than a dozen employees and thousands of customers across North America. Our customer base includes outdoors enthusiasts, “weekend warriors' as well as corporate clients. We are pleased to serve industries such as mineral development, forestry, infrastructure maintenance and development and law enforcement. Each customer has their own agenda when it comes to buying product from us, but they all look for a product that is reliable, trustworthy and comes with outstanding service and Northstar Recreation is proud to provide all three!

Northstar Recreation is proud to be a part of Sudbury's community. Northstar contributes to a number of community endeavors including the Festival of Lights, Crime Stoppers, The Royal Canadian Legion, The Hospital Activity Book for Children, Ducks Unlimited, Sudbury Game and Fish, Freedom Rider Motorcycle Association, Muscular Dystrophy, and many more. We want to see our city grow and develop for the benefit of its citizens, Sudbury is a special. We all need to work together to keep it that way.

We are proud to note that Northstar Recreation is acknowledged as one of the top ten Honda dealers in all of Ontario and one of 50 in all of Canada. I have a 1985 Honda magna that has 13,000 original KMS (the bike is stock and in really good condition). I wanted to get it certified at a Honda dealer due to its age but when I called, they said they don’t work on anything older than 2000. Although they some how still decided to take it in and said they would do me a β€œfavour” (around $120 for a cert). The guy ended up saying that it needed front brakes ($100), so we went ahead and changed the pads in the front on a different occasion (I had to make an appointment because they were booked solid and a cert is a cert, not an appointment) Then, when he took it for a ride after fixing the front brakes, he said he could hear a clonk coming from the front and was not able to certify it without getting to the bottom of it. So I had to again bring it in on a different occasion for them to get to the bottom of the clonking noise. As I was riding it to the shop, I realized that my front brakes weren't feeling to good so I let them know that they would also need to check that out (even though I thought the brakes were fixed). The bike went in Thursday morning, and sat until Tuesday afternoon. I called everyday and never got a call from them to give me an update even though they said they would. After 4 days of no work, I decided to take the bike back with me. When I got there, he charged me $300 for what they say was to inspect the front end (labour) even though they never found the issue neither did they fix the issue, and a $12 brake part that was never installed. At the end of the day I paid $120 for a cert that never happened, $100 for brakes that were never fixed properly and $300 in which 2.18hrs ($237.62) was dedicated to β€œwork”, $12 for the brake bushing and $13 for shock fluid. I appreciated the β€œfavour” but in the end it just put me in a much bigger hole, wasted a month worth of riding and cost me +$500 for work that led me nowhere. I do not recommend what so ever.

Parts guy is rude. Made a joke about giving me the right part. (I went to pick up for my husband) He said make sure u have the right part. I asked him are you joking right now? He said ya, just kidding. I tell my husband and he let's me know that he has had nothing but issues with getting the wrong part. We want to shop local but when theres no customer service, it's hard to. Online parts is getting easier and easier.

I bought a 2014 Honda TRX 420 PG CTE from them and it has been nothing but good experiences for me. Example: I brought the atv in for servicing last September. It hadn't been in for a long time lol. I also wanted a pull start kit put on. I was told it had potential to be a big job. I went ahead. It turned out they were able to save me a few bucks on it all. I was so delighted, I purchased a generator from them. Not many times, I feel so good about customer service from a business, I turn around and drop more money down for another big ticket item. This is how a business should make you feel IMO. It's one thing to get treated nice while buying something. Its another to continue those feelings towards a customer afterwards on all matters. This is how you get repeat business.

I was inquiring about Kawasaki and bmw..all over Ontario and Quebec. Only Northstar Responded to my queries promptly and answered all of my questions. I drove 400km to pick up my new 2020 Z1000R. Kelsey had all paperwork ready to go and bike was all preprd. She explained the entire bill of sale and it was very smooth transaction. Wes gave me a brief tutorial and tips on how to maintain my new bike. He even helped me load and harness the bike into my NV200. It was a very pleasant experience buy during COVID. Although they are a bit far from Toronto, definitely check with them before going elsewhere.

Best Kawasaki and Honda recreation shop in Sudbury and Ontario. Product selection and quality is excellent and service is outstanding. I have been dealing with Northstar Recreation for several years and always great service. I have purchased Honda generators, several Kawasaki dirt bikes, Honda trimmer, Honda water pump among several other maintenance type parts and products for some of my older equipment. Staff is always knowledgeable about products and very friendly to deal with. Definitely the go to shop.
