ABOUT
After Croatia’s War of Independence, Niko left his hometown of Dubrovnik with dreams of a better life for his young family. He learned English while washing dishes in one of Calgary’s notable restaurants. Hard work and dedication saw him quickly learning the culinary arts, eventually acquiring the title of head chef. In 2006, Niko realized yet another dream – his own bistro.
Niko has called Kensington home for his Bistro for over 15 years. Located minutes away from downtown Calgary, just down the road from the Jubilee Auditorium… Niko’s is an excellent choice for your business lunch, pre theatre meal, and of course: a delicious dinner. We offer a diverse menu, with big flavours, at modest prices. We also host private functions, accommodating up to 55 of your guests for a formal event, and up to 70 people for a cocktail party.

Each time is amazing and the food never disappoints.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I normally never take the time to review restaurants but after this meal I needed to. Everything was 10/10... and hands down the best risotto I've ever eaten. I brought my girlfriend here for her birthday and the owner went above and beyond for us. I will brag about this place to everyone and anyone. We will be coming back that's a fact.

The food was delicious and reasonably priced and the service was truly excellent. We haven’t had such a fantastic experience going out in a long time. Can’t recommend this place enough! We will be back!

I quite enjoyed the mussels as they were tender and flavourful from the sauce. The gnocchi was al dente and very rich. The portion size of the gnocchi was very generous and I had to pack it to go.
I was here to celebrate an anniversary and requested a special note or message on the dessert but I was told they don’t do that. We tried tiramisu and also the Apple streudel. The Apple streudel was not the texture we were expecting and the taste was kind of ordinary. The tiramisu was pretty good - moist and more cake-like.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Food was good, service was good. Took a while for our server to help us but once she came, she was pretty attentive. Had the pollo parmiagana, pretty tasty but nothing crazy special. LOVED the Gamberi Sambuca! That sauce was amazing, I would definitely go back for that. Calamari was good too! Cute restaurant, loved the atmosphere.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Niko’s Bistro. The food, service, pace, and atmosphere were all fantastic.
The Calamari lives up to the hype and was a really exciting starter unlike anything we’ve had before. The Bruschetta was also top notch, perfect for those who enjoyed it garlicky. The Risotto Con Fungi was amazing.
We would highly recommend Niko’s. Our only regret was not trying it sooner.
