I brought my turntable in and asked the owner of the shop to look at it. He was very insulting and rude while I asked him questions, at one point mocking a punch to my face (I guess because I asked one too many questions). I’ve never experienced anything like this as a customer before. The shop looks like an episode of hoarders, just piles of stuff everywhere, rather than an organized shop or store. I was given a β€œreceipt” by the shop owner for my turntable repairs which states that β€œif you leave your stereo equipment for more than 30 days we will sell it”. So he quotes me β€œat least 10-15 days” for repairs, and then 2 weeks after that it’s his? What if I happen to be away? What legitimate business steals from their customers? Stay VERY FAR AWAY from this place. I will never step back in there again.

There is almost nowhere to go in Toronto to if you need to fix your turntable. Paul at National Sound is great. I first brought him a turntable that I bought for $1 at a garage sale and he fixed it up nice for around $50 including the cartridge and a new belt. Above all, the price is very good here. He also had a great show room of used equipment if you are looking to upgrade. All in all I would highly recommend National Sound!

Paul is awesome and honest. I went in with 2 Technics 1200 turntables that had been sitting in a basement for years. Paul was more than happy to offer advice, options on parts, and also held my equipment while I searched online for cheaper parts. Granted, he can be a little slow but he's amazing. A lot of great equipment in the store, just be ready to browse. He's got my business as long as he stays open.

Highly recommend! What the shop lacks in aesthetic, it makes up in the honest and straightforward service from Paul. He’s a man of his craft and serviced the seized motor in a turntable that I inherited within a week. I’ve been back for a new stylus and other miscellaneous audio needs since. Ask the right questions: When can I pick it up? How much? Easy as that.

I have accumulated a large collection of turntables and vintage receivers over the years and as they eventually dry out and need repair, a visit to National Sound has been very rewarding. Paul has always been able to explain what most often is wrong because of his decades of experience. If the item is not worth the labour cost of the repair, he will tell you not to spend the money which I have appreciated. Yes the place is crammed with audio equipment, a mess, but it is not a showroom and you are there for the service and I have had the best at very fair pricing.

I first discovered National Sound many years ago when I was looking for a set of headphones. Paul helped me decide on what was right for me and I really appreciated his honest approach to business. No pushy sales tactics. Just the advice and straightforward information from a professional to a new customer. I've gone on to recommend National Sound to many friends. My only beef (and it's a small one) is that it's hard to contact Paul unless you call. But I guess that simply speaks to his 'old school' approach to business. Even if you're not in the market for equipment or repairs you owe it to yourself to wander in for a quick visit. You might end up buying something you didn't realize you need.

Paul is an absolute gentleman. He went above and beyond to fix my Marantz reciever. Quick, and honest service, and I am thankful for it!

I have been to see Paul at National Sound twice in the past few months. Both times I appreciated his honesty. In the first case he quickly discovered the problem and fixed it....NO CHARGE! In the second case, he checked out the equipment and recommended against repairing it as it is cheaper to purchase a new unit....NO CHARGE! I appreciate Paul's expertise and honesty. I would recommend Paul at National Sound for anyone seeking electronic sound equipment repair.
