John Costanzo at My Kind of Music is part of a rare breed in Toronto (and most other places) - a high-end audio merchant who is in the business purely for its own sake and for the deep enjoyment of both great music and the development of long-term personal relationships with his customers. In my personal interactions with John during the course of many years and many satisfying purchases, his attentive and deeply knowledgeable service has been, and remains, a hallmark of quality in the competitive high-end audio scene in Toronto. My latest acquisition from My Kind of Music - Origin Live Aurora, Wand Plus tonearm, Soundsmith Aida cartridge - is a revelation: LP listening at its best. As usual, John’s regular communications were timely and informative, setup was literally the finest available, and the results have been superb. Another great experience at My Kind of Music. I have some friendly advice for potential new customers of any kind of shop (one of whom has posted an ill-considered review here) who call the shop owner to ask him to hold a sale item for later pick-up. Do the shop owner (and yourself) a favour by actually showing up quickly to take advantage of a sale-priced item. Don’t expect a merchant to wait for days and days in the hope that you - a complete stranger - will actually show up, eventually, while other customers who call about the same items and actually do show up are turned away. It just can’t happen - at least not with any responsible shop owner who has never heard of you before. Posting negatively on this review page about a merchant whose entire history with customers is and has been precisely positive, sounds like sour grapes - sour at yourself for not getting your butt down to the shop quickly in order to take advantage of a sale item. John sources products from all over the world. He builds passionate relationships with the makers of various superb products that provide wonderful quality and, most importantly, great music. And that’s the key to John’s success and the enduring appeal of My Kind of Music - everything is about the final musical performance. Great shop; great proprietor.

I have been a customer of MKoM for the past decade and am thankful to have found it. Easy to see and hear the difference from other stores. Great musical equipment set up properly and a plethora of information available from the owner John as well as other customers. John is passionate about music and goes out of his way to help customers achieve their listening goals. Anyone who takes listening to music seriously would be missing out if they don't stop by and spend some time.

So glad I found this place, John is so knowledgeable and helpful, he wants to know about your system, listening habits and goals so that he can make suggestions to best suit YOUR needs. John did a full diagnostic and set up on my turntable and it has never sounded better. If you care about sound and want to deal with a true expert and gentleman this is the place to go.

John is superb! He understands not only the equipment but the customers needs. Add to that, he’s great to talk with and he explains things well. Your gear is in safe hands if you need a repair and if you need something else, he’s got it or can get it.

This review is a long time coming . About a year and half ago I was looking for a ultrasonic lp cleaner. So I looking for a Degritter I’m in Windsor Ontario look up and my kind of music came up as a store to buy.I called and Talk to John he was extremely knowledgeable about the Degritter so got price.ask if had in stock not in stock have to order.but have to pay for before to order well 4500.00 a lot to money to give someone you don’t no .so I said I world get back to him on this.so I went to his website and read all his testimonial.all look get so call back and had him put one on order John said it will take 4 to 5 week’s to come in. About 5 week later John called to let me know it running a little ..late du to covit. 2 week later John called and said he was shipping out.so I have had the unit now 1 year and a half.I wood highly recommended the Degritter it so nice to use I been cleaning lp I’ve cleans about 400 to 500 so far and it works great.i wood recommend this Degritter if your looking wa ultrasonic cleaner and highly recommend John from my kind of music Chuck Reger
