★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Musica Academy is one of the better music schools in Calgary. Although a bit pricey, their teachers ensure that their students get the best possible experience. Their group classes are $25/45 min class, and their private lessons are around $31/30 min class. The school policy is also very flexible, unlike Musicworks Canada.
Their education system is the Yamaha method, same as the Sonata School of Music located in the SW. I enjoy learning with my child during their group classes, even though they are meant for them and not me.
The staff are always so welcoming when you enter, and the Covid measures that they have put in place are great. Everyone wears a face mask/shield, there are dividers between the pianos, and the receptionists take everyone's temperature before entering.
I am saddened to see that the negative reviews that are on this place are by either people who work at another music school (Serene Tan), a Karen (L T), or a throwaway account (based on going through their history of reviews, I also know that Serene does work at Musicworks, as I have been there before). I am leaving my review as someone who has tried many schools, private teachers, and group lessons. I hope this helps anyone in making their decisions.
