★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The first time I’ve ever been to Thunder Bay since I was a little child, we visited Mount McKay and the base scenic lookout area. This was near the end of our trip so we were a tad rushed and didn’t get the chance to hike along the other roads and paths but the experience was still great. If you’re into aviation and plane spotting, try to time your visit with arrivals or departures at CYQT. The view of the airport is awesome as long as you have binoculars or a good camera.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Can drive half way up the mountain making it accessible for everyone. Wonderful view of sleeping giant, thunderbay airport, lake superior and the thunderbay downtown. Very scenic mountain. Have a few trails that lead to the top, but not maintained. Hard trails with a lot of climbing not suitable for everyone. A big parking area and a beautifully maintained park space adds to the beauty of this place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ $10 entrance fee per car for the day and the car look off has a lovely view. The hike up from the parking lot takes about 20 minutes. It is very steep and I'd not recommend it for anyone under probably 9 or 10 years old. You can walk around a fair bit at the top for a 360 degree view then you go back down the way you came. It's also difficult on the way down but the risk there is sliding and losing your footing. I would recommend to anyone visiting Thunder Bay.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful viewpoint overlooking Thunder Bay and surrounding area - you can even see Sleeping Giant from here. Still a good view despite the smoke that is hanging in the air from the fires. $10/car entry fee and you can pay using cash or card.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a must see when in thunder bay! The mountain is breathtaking. Unfortunately the day I visited was the last day open before closing for the winter and it was snowing badly so I didn't have very good views. I can't wait to come back.
