Something seems very wrong to me. I bought a beautiful mink vest for my wife that had the ticket price of $3700 before taxes. It is a gorgeous mahogany mink. The issues I had were four-fold. First, the sales person did not give any information on care and maintenance of the fur other than it needed storage. Furthermore, this is a garment worth $4200 after tax and the salesperson did NOT investigate anything about us regarding our knowledge of furs, why we wanted the fur, or if we have any experience with fur. Only that it is beautiful and gorgeous and wonderful on my wife.. bla bla bla.... Upon reflection, I realize I received more information when buying a $125 Lululemon garment. Fur is a luxury item not a jumper. Upon purchase, there was no brochure on care, cleaning, storage, insurance (which I would not have bought), or things important to having a mink. Also when I bought the mink, it was folded into a regular paper HBC bag with some tissue tossed on it. Come on guys! This is a luxury fur packaged and presented en par as a pair of $70 blue jeans! I think luxury service with good sound sales information and client investigation needs to be used when selling a luxury good. This did not happen. Second issue, the item had no fastened label or tag attached to the lining of the garment. Nothing permanently fixed stating it was a mink, where the fur was sourced, whether it was made in Canada or not, or even who manufactured it. These are important when traveling internationally as certain countries have border entry restrictions with different animal skins/products. Also, the label is a declaration of quality. Example, the papers for my rolex watch is proof it is not a fake and adds value if I decided to sell the watch. There was nothing on this fur proving it was not made in China or that it was made by The Bay. Here is another issue, I don't think this fur was even made by the Bay or from the Bay. I was shopping at the Bay, the receipt states HBC Fur Salon, but I'm sure the salon is not actually part of The Bay for several reasons. When questions about the sale were presented, the sales person had to call the furrier not the store manager. Later when I returned and the sales person was absent, the floor manager could not access the till. She had to wait for the fur sales person to return. The Bay furs are not likely from the Bay at all. The last issue. We are very busy professionals and were able to have some time together on Good Friday where we spent some of that time at The Bay shopping. We were not sure about the versatility of the fur with my wife's other clothes, so we bought the fur with the condition we could return it by the following Saturday full refund if we decided it did not work for her. I mentioned three times to the sales person we would not be able to get into the Bay until the following Saturday due to work schedules. Generally speaking, furs on sale are a final sale and could incur a 25% restocking fee if returns are accepted. I trusted the sales lady inputted the proper exception regarding the return window from Good Friday to Saturday the 10th. She put one week (ie until Friday the 9th) which would not work for me and did not reflect our verbal agreement. As a result, we had to rush our thinking about the fur which contributed to us returning the fur. Look, the fur had a gorgeous sheen, the feel was high quality, and it fit well. Also, there was a considerable discount on the garment. I loved the fur and was ok with keeping it. However, there were significant things missing when buying this luxury garment which should have been present. To illustrate, buying the fur with the service and tags and presentation missing, is like buying a gorgeous gold Presidential Rolex sold to you by a fast food server and given to you in a paper bag to take home. It is still a gorgeous Rolex but the sale is not just about the watch..... 2 stars because it was a beautiful fur and they had a great return policy. Feeling a bit spooked to revisit this fur salon.
