Our tour of the campus and studios with Alex was very detailed and informative. Everytime I walk through the front door, the atmosphere of the entrance is just so warm and happy. Last time I visited, two students were jamming out together on guitars! Aspiring musician heaven.

The honest truth : You get what you want to put in with this school. Is it over priced ? yes, Are practices a little dated - yes. You will however come in to contact with some great teachers who do care (some) and amazing friends that can stay with you for life. My 2 years was a struggle at metalworks but i did finish and get a diploma. However finding work is tough, Specially if you leave the Toronto area. People think i went to welding school.. If you have the extra cash and dont need to work while attending this school then maybe its for you but if you can not commit 100% dont even waste your time. You wont pass.

I spent two years at Metalworks in the business and Audio Production program. I graduated 6 years ago and since then, was able to build a business for myself as a songwriter, with the knowledge, help and support of my Metalworks family. I've written for and developed artists that have gone on to sign deals in Canada, US and UK. I currently work with publishers and producers based in Toronto and Los Angeles and have several industry outlets to plug my songs to. The curriculum, technologies and student experience at Metalworks are constantly being revised and upgraded to ensure the most competitive level of education in the entertainment industry. The owner, principal and instructors all pushed and challenged me to get back on track when I was struggling and I've never felt that kind of support from an educational system in my life. When the students win, Metalworks wins and I'm so grateful to have this community to always call "home". In retrospect, this school prepared and equipped me with the tools, experience, information and relationships I needed to navigate through one of the toughest industries on this planet- the music industry. My tenacity and endurance brought me to success but my experience at Metalworks gave me the confidence and platform to really go for it.

Metalworks is a fantastic school. Since graduating I have had multiple opportunities open up in the music industry from the connections made while attending. The instructors were amazing, the experience and feedback provided is invaluable. The course content is constantly updating to be relevant as technology changes. The content learned is immediately useful and gave me a huge amount of confidence. One of my first jobs out of metalworks was editing audio and the tools and skills shown in class put me well above the curve with others sharing the same task. Metalworks will push you to be the best you can. I highly recommend this school if you are looking to create a successful career in the music industry.

Unprofessional Staff, Financial aid office is very useless & unclear leaving out details when needing questions answered or needing assistance. Gotta pay for test retakes. Big course load for each class for a 1 year course that is FAST paced. They throw around big names like Drake, & Bieber to entice you to attend their school. Remember the recording studio & learning environment are 2 different things.. Large some of $$ needed to even attend & they really have nothing to offer such as programs for extra academic assistance or a ton of guests lectures from the industry, that'll make the time here worth while. They do not have the resources or space to accommodate everybody. You can tell as the building is quite small. The school as mentioned by a couple of other people in the reviews is not very professional. Teachers don't share info clearly & do not interact with the class in a way that's engaging. As paying consumer for their education, they have a hard time catering to people with disabilities or having little knowledge in music, needing the extra help. Me & few others that have attended I know of did not have a good learning experience or student life in this school. I do not think this school is worth the lump sum of money they ask for.

Metalworks completely changed my life. I have never learned so much in a two year span than I did at this school. The staff is wonderful and completely willing to work with you and help you with your future career. Since graduating Metalworks I have attained not 1 but 4 jobs in my field, a fantastic network of professionals, friends and a wealth of knowledge. I am able to proudly call myself a professional in the music & entertainment industry and without Metalworks I don't know if I would have ever been able to acquire the confidence to do so! This is a fantastic school that can help jump start your career into the entertainment industry!

I wish I could seriously give this school a negative star for a rating. This private "college" is undoubtedly the biggest rip off and waste of time when it comes to education, authenticity and integrity. When you go on your first tour, speak with teachers and counselors, they paint this beautiful yet fake image that you will be attending an elite program based off your hopes and your dreams, making it sound so lovely. In reality, the teachers do not give you the time of day to actually help you, the staff behave like a bunch of children; various faculty members come and go so frequently you cannot keep track of who still works there and who does not. The rate of students failing at least one class a semester is outstanding, and the number of students who end up dropping out is even scarier. I know, because I was once a student. Additionally, the cost for tuition is not only unrealistic but it's cruel. Especially cruel for students who put in the time and effort, and receive NO help after their studies have ended. This includes both graduates and non graduates alike. What was supposed to be an organization to help shape a brilliant future ends up being a shot in the dark. In conclusion, if you want an actual college experience that offers real depth, real assistance, and real knowledge, you will not find it here.

Simply put, I entered Metalworks thinking I was a guitar player, and I am leaving knowing I am a musician. have improved all areas of my musicianship and have become more adept with recording process, including uses of popular technology and software. I am grateful for the knowledge, and for the mentorship opportunities the school facilitated. I would highly recommend Metalworks to any person passionate about music, and who is looking to make it a career. The courses are constantly upgraded to accommodate changes in the industry, and the academics department is willing to work with every student to maximize their potential, and provide whatever assistance an individual may need for academic success. If you have the desire to succeed and if you communicate well with your instructors, you will benefit enormously. Thank you Metalworks Institute!
