Wendell and Jean Cathers were the original owners of Merla Mae in.Thunder Bay. A city-wide tradition since the early 1950's, Merla Mae is the only licensed drive-in in Thunder Bay.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was a great place with a great old school burger place kind of vibe. Liked everything but the hot dogs. A bit overpriced and nothing special about them even though they sound fancy on paper. Burger was ok, fries were good. Would not come back for food but I'd try the desert. Likes the atmosphere and the staff and washrooms were very clean too!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome old time burger joint. Burgers are solid, not hand made and probably frozen but good. The buns are fantastic, big pillowly potato roll. Crinkle cut fry and good shakes with dinner interesting flavors.
