He patiently walked me thru the benefits of each, and let me ask as many questions as I needed to understand. His instructions were clear and informative and made me feel confident about making the right moves to pay off my mortgage faster. Due to staff shortages and general worker apathy, I've been experiencing abysmal customer service interactions with several of my day to day dealings ie. insurance, banks, investments, groceries, utilities; but Merix has always been an excellent experience for me. Which is even more appreciated now.

I do remember needing to provide a lot of documentation for my income, which seemed a little frustrating at the time. However, by only financing only the most qualified clients, that reduces Merix's risk, which enables them to offer lower rates, especially at renewal. And, I like saving money!! :)

We had to pay a penalty for renewing early but with rising interest rates, we will save more in the long run so it was worth it for us. If you need to renew, we would recommend Andrew as he was knowledgeable, friendly and professional. As far as Merix goes as a mortgage company, we have had no issues and any time we have had to call/email they were always helpful. As others have said, their online portal leaves a little to be desired but has not posed any real issues for us.

I lost my job due to covid and could not get another so I retired. I'm on a small limited income and life is ruff. School loan payments with Bank of Nova Scotia had to end cause there was no money. So BNS froze my bank account so I can't use it to pay mortgage. Since Nov 2021 I was sending money orders by mail in the the first week of the month . I have called them every month . Now today the staff at Merix are refusing to accept my money order and they hung up on me twice . I've been on hold now 1 hour and 15 min . They are not trying to work with me and I don't want to lose my house.
