The idea to build the golf course came about in 1996 by a group of community volunteers. For a small community, the task seemed insurmountable. However, thanks to many volunteer hours and donations, their dream was realized and the course was built. Recent improvements to the clubhouse and a new cart storage facility are the newest enhancements to this fantastic course.

Golf course architect, Jeremy Glenn, donated his time to design the golf course. The signature hole is number five, with the most challenging hole being number one.

Meota is situated in a lakeside community with North Battleford as the closest major center. There are many special attractions and activities going on during the summer months. The Meota Regional Park is located by Jackfish Lake and is a fine site for camping, baseball, water activities and more. The Battlefords Provincial Park is also nearby. One of the highlights of the area is the Cochin Lighthouse, situated between Jackfish Lake and Murray Lake. It is the only lighthouse you will find on the prairies.
