Maple Place Apartments

My girlfriend lived there and recently moved out. This is a slumlord. They dont fix ANYTHING. The place is overrun with mentally challenged homeless people, drug users and criminals. If you like be yelled at for NO reason by other renters, then move here. Firetrucks and ambulances visit weekly due to drug overdoses. The pool is a slough for 9 months of the year. Terrible place for children to be however a school nearby. I would never not be out of sight of children in this area. BEWARE.

I lived here for 2 years because I was new in the city and I have a little dog so it was the only place I could find at last minute that takes animals and someone gave me a good review on them. The management is very nice, however the apartment is so out dated and pretty much falling apart and they don't update or fix anything properly before anyone moves in. And the first month I moved in I found bedbugs. They got my apt treated but it took over 5 treatments and I had to throw out all my brand new furniture and couches and ended up sleeping on a air mattress Then I found out there was cockroaches coming in from adjoining apt as well and flea's in the hallways due to the carpet. And to get a work order to get anything fix is a no go...they will say they will come a certain day but you will never see them. And even after I moved out nothing was fixed. Security is a joke and I they better hire more people to get things done and to update there apartments. But I guess I think they like to take advantage of the area they are located and to just let people live in a dump and jack up the rent every year.. because they can get away with it. I am so glad I got out of there as soon as I can, I would advise NOT to move here!!

I lived here last year & have no complaints.. they fixed what I asked right away. I got new paint,carpets & new counter tops when I moved in. Management is amazing WITH awesome personalities. There are alot of buildings in this low income area so yes you are going to get your druggies and dealers, police and ambulance.. I seen mostly elders and my pregnant self in the ambulance.. not druggies from over dose.. people will assume but they shouldnt. As for fixes no matter when you live you get what is fixed by how bad it is. there not going to jump for something small when they have to tend to big fixes. It's a old complex so expect damages. people need to stop complaining so much and be gratful they have a room over there head.

The only reason I can see giving a negative review is if you got on management's bad side... and you can only do that of you're a rotten tenant so I wouldn't pay attention to the bad reviews on here. Pay your rent, keep your place clean, respect the fact there are others living in close proximity and you're good. Management is great and supportive. Affordable housing is rare now so appreciate what you've got here... and it's NOT crawling with junkies as other reviews state. The building are old but over all it’s a nice place to live.

I don't recommend living in Maple Place if you have kids because you don't want to live where the majority of neighbours are either street people/druggies or abnormal people with behavioural issues. For some unknown reason management tends to rents mostly to street people/druggies and abnormal people who ruins it for everyone here. They bring problems to the apartments such as drugs, fights, excessive loud noise, vandalism, RCMP making their presence known here, attracting questionable people and so on. This place would be good if management stopped renting to problem makers and take the active approach to monitor the apartments closely. Cleanliness is nonexistent here. The hallways are rarely vacuumed. The hallways' air quality is horrible because it stinks in the combination of cigarette/weed/stinky humans and pets 24/7. If you have asthma or any respiratory health problems, the poor quality inside the hallways is a concern. Also the washers and dryers inside the laundry rooms are not cleaned and sanitized. Both of the washers and dryers are always dirty full of hair, animal fur, mud, sand, and smelly unless if you clean and disinfect the machines with bleach prior to usage. In addition, the exterior grounds of the apartments are usually covered with garbage, furniture, dog feces, condoms, and needles. Maintenance here is a joke. Things don't get fixed and replaced when needed in your suite and in the apartments. Pets owners here give all of us a bad name. Most won't bother to pick up their dogs' feces from the grounds. Also most won't clean the washers after washing their clothes which are covered with fur. So you'll usually find fur all over the washers. Do expect yearly rent increase for a poorly maintained apartment. This would be a great place to live if management starts to rent to decent people, maintain the apartments, and clean the apartments on a regular basis.

I have lived here for about five years and have had absolutely no major problems. There were some undesirables here initially but that has improved.The buildings are older so yes sometimes things break as expected. When brought to managements attention I have found them very quick to respond. I suspect some of the more negative comments posted are from tenants with an axe to grind against management who call it like they see it. If you are a chronic complainer or lousy tenant don't live here. Pay your rent on time and don't cause problems you'll be fine.

To the people giving bad reviews. Grow up. I lived in this place years ago. The management isn't there to coddle you and tell you it's ok if you are late with your rent. It's their job to literally make sure you pay your rent. As for the condition of the buildings. These are older buildings with cleaning staff working regularly. If I had to rent again this is the first place I would look. Because of the staff and Management

I have lived here for about 3 years and have not had any issues. When I call something in, it is dealt with promptly. The management respond well to those who pay their rent and are courteous. When our building was partly burned in the Halloween fire the year before last, they were very concerned and did their best to help out the night of and the following months. I love my neighbours, have made good friends and love the community and ammenities nearby. I will likely never move unless I have to. Side note, pets are allowed! I don't know many places that would do that!
