Great place to go for a nice hike and so close to Jasper. Makes for a nice time without having to go far from "base camp"

Whether you are looking for a quick photo op or an activity for the day, Maligne Canyon is great in any season for a visit. There are 6 bridges to visit. Parking is available at Bridge 6, 5 and 1. Bridge 6 is the closest to Jasper and has recently been upgraded to include more parking, day use picnic sites and a stunning view of the river. Bridge 5 has a larger parking area and is an excellent option for those who are not sure if they will have the energy to do a round trip from Bridge 6. Bridge 1 also has a larger parking area, with a secondary overflow lot and a restaurant. Bridge 1 is the access point for the highest elevation of the Canyon Trailheads. If traveling with two vehicles, I highly recommend parking 1 vehicle at Bridge 6 and starting the hike at Bridge 1, so you are travelling downhill. If you wish to do the entire trail roundtrip, start at Bridge 6. By the time you have trekked uphill to Bridge 1, you will appreciate the cooler temperatures and shaded trail as you head back on the return trip. Pack a lunch and stop along the river between Bridge 4 and 5 for an amazing view. If you wish to view the Canyon and falls during the winter, you can either join a tour or attempt the ice walk on your own. Ice cleats are highly advisable as the trails become quite packed down and you will also be travelling on the frozen river for part of your excursion. if you join a guided tour these will be provided for you. Otherwise you can rent them at Jasper Source for Sports, Gravity Gear or Pure Outdoors. Wear your snow pants for the opportunity to slide down down the natural ice slides for added fun.

Beautiful little trail outside Jasper. Trail with bridges criss-crossing the canyon. You can extend your walk as far down the canyon as you wish for a few hundred metre stroll to see the gorge at its deepest to a 4.5 km loop that takes you down to stream level. Well maintained trails with adequate safety fences.

About 30 mins hike to see four bridges. Mostly downhill from First bridge to Fourth bridge. Easy route. Going to Fifth bridge is 1.6km one way.

We hiked from 1st bridge to 6th bridge and back. We parked at 1st bridge. Hike was excellent, trail is well maintained. 1st to 6th bridge is downhill ,so its uphill on the way back. About 4km each way. Beautiful views! There is not much to see between 5th and 6th bridge so not sure if its worth it to go to 6th except to say that you did all the bridges. The view at 6th bridge is ok. Crowds thins out the further you go (after 4th bridge or so)

Had enough parking and a good location to start your trail walk. We started walking in the clock wise direction after reading so any reviews, but honestly it doesn't make any difference. The crowd was same in both the directions!
