part 1 I recklessly moved into a new place clearly not doing enough due diligence on my part. The property backed onto a 4 lane road, which is used as a commuter road from Monday to Friday. My careless self viewed the property on a quiet Sunday and thought nothing more of it. Come the Monday following the move in, I noticed that trucks and cars start passing by at 6am in the morning and don’t stop until 7pm at night. These were not just your regular trucks, we are talking heavy 18 wheelers, concrete mixer trucks, garbage trucks, trucks carrying construction equipment and material. Then layer on the motorcycles/ Harleys that seem to treat this road as a racing strip. For context, the house is also probably 40 feet set back from the road. If you’re really curious the location, you can PM me. I work from home, and I usually sit on calls all day. To say that I was losing my mind, every time I truck passed by and the other person on the phone had to stop talking for a few seconds, would be the understatement of the year. Every day, I just couldn’t focus. I would spend my days reading all sorts of “sound proofing” suggestions, ranging from white noise machines, sound dampening curtains, weather stripping and even considered new windows. For the record, white noise machines do not cover the sound of heavy trucks that echo through your entire house, so if this is your problem, you can save yourself the effort here. I looked into Indow window inserts as well, unfortunately they are a US based company so by the time they ship it here and consider FX, it’s a bit pricy. I also considered B quiet windows, which looked like they might really do the job, but at around $4k a window, I just couldn’t do it. Then there’s magnetite. Unfortunately, there really aren’t that many reviews written based on Canada consumers, and so I vowed that if this worked out for me, I would write a very, very detailed review so that it would help anyone in the future, who might find themselves in my shoes. Since there were few Canadian reviews, I literally combed through all 12 pages of Magnetite Australia before I committed. It sounded promising. The process is rather simple. Arrange for an in-house measurement, pay the fee ($75 for GTA), then someone (Alfredo) will come and measure your windows for you. He’ll bring a box, and put his iphone playing loud music into it, so that it simulates a window so you can gauge the effectiveness when he visits. Worked well, it blocks out sound but you can still hear it of course. Keep in mind this is a box, with 1 pane of acrylic, so not quite the same as a real house (mine had double pane glass already installed, so another layer would make 3). Alfredo is not a pushy salesman so you don’t feel pressured to make a decision. Production time was 3 weeks, and alfredo came to install it mid-week of the 4th week (probably because I kept bugging him). Installation was quick, 1 hour for two windows approximately, leaving behind no mess. The frame was installed over the existing window frame. Unfortunately rookie mistake was to have installed shutters prior to the window inserts, so I needed to frame the shutters to give enough clearance for the new window inserts. PSA: free yourself of the trouble, and don’t install shutters if you’re going to do this. Now onto the windows. L I F E C H A N G I N G. After the window inserts were installed, I can visually see the cars pass by, but the sound isn’t registering. I don’t need to blast music loudly just to mask the sound of the cars anymore. A few caveats, I did weather strip the window before the inserts were installed just to make sure its fully sealed. You may still feel the trucks pass by, which is slightly dependent on how heavy they are and how fast they travel. Alfredo warned me about this before hand as well, the low frequency noises will still be felt. Unfortunately you will still hear motorcycles, but they are definitely less annoying than before. You’ll see the cars, but depending on how close you are to the windows you may not really notice it.

Great experience all around! Alfredo was very professional and knowledgeable, pleasure to work with. Our house's windows are facing a busy road and Skytrain in Vancouver area. After installing magnetite windows I can barely hear it. Definitely recommend Magnetite to anyone with similar issues.

We have an oval shaped window by our front entrance that was drafty. The replacement cost way over my budget. Then I found Magnetite. An exact template was made of the window. Then a few weeks later a perfectly fitted insert was installed. It blends in with the existing trim. It has stopped the air leakage and the cost was very reasonable compared to the replacement window. I recommend Magnetite.

I used Magnetite for the installation of an additional window pane in my condo office for noise blockage, which is a corner facing loud construction. Alfredo came a took measurements, and then completed the installation professionally and quickly. So far the noise blocked is great!! The construction seems to be at a bit of a lull, but I cannot hear most outside noise. I am confident that it will continue to do the trick as things pick back up and will update. My configuration required a wall of windows over a sliding door to my balcony and large windows on a second wall. Alfredo was able to install in panels, one of which can be removed if access to the patio is needed. They look great!! Thank you!

Product works as intended - effective and convenient. The reason for the 3 stars is that the shipping fees of the inserts to my home were never disclosed upfront, or part of the quote that I received. The first time I heard about them was when I was asked for my credit card number to have them shipped. Those were as high as $200, which represented 20% of my entire invoice. So make sure you ask that question.

I live with my backyard facing a busy main road (in Mississauga for reference) - 2 bedrooms face this road. I noticed that because of the traffic noise it was affecting my toddler's sleep, waking up frequently during the night, especially on weekends. Never heard of magnetite or any of their products before. I stumbled upon them while looking for sound proofing solutions - that would not require replacing your existing windows. When I found Magnetite, I watched a couple Youtube videos and read a few reviews - I was pleased at what I was seeing and/or reading. But how good could it really be? After getting the inserts installed, my toddler has been sleeping much better - which in turn means my wife and I are sleeping much better to! I am extremely pleased with the product and would recommend it to anyone. Special thanks to Alfredo and his team, hope to do business with you all again!

We just had Magnetite window inserts installed to reduce the noise we get inside the house. They work great! The noise is significantly reduced. They look good inside the house. Initially we were worried about how difficult it would be to take them off when we wanted to open the windows, but that is not a problem at all. Alfredo was very helpful in handling our order and installation.

Great product and great service. After a concussion, my sensitivity to noise increased and the sound of traffic bothered me in my home office and my bedroom. Magnetite has made a huge difference and I can now barely hear any street noise at all! Alfredo was prompt, courteous, helpful and the install was a breeze. Thank you Magnetite! I can sleep and work in peace now. Highly recommend this product. Looks great too.
