Went there for a classy dining experience and was severely disappointed with the food taste. We ordered fish soup, chicken liver pâté with baguette, quail on wild rice and salmon with lentil and spinach. The only thing I LOVED was the chicken liver pâté, it was light and delicious. The soup was ok, too heavy for my taste. The entrees were so bland that we left without finishing. Considering the high price point it was a big let down.

Ageless decor and professional staff give this place a lively energy. Fantastic cocktails and wine selection, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. The food is definitely something to write home about. Building all elements in a single bite for the octopus took some coordination but was well worth it - capers, peppers, rocket, olive and radish with that beautifully charred octopus was what dreams are made of. My quail was cooked perfectly, complimented nicely by the wild rice. I can go on and on but I would just say come see for yourself ?

Very typical French bistro style restaurant. Servers are more knowledgeable, mature and pro. Very swift and efficient. No "how was the food, would you like something else " every 2 mins. Food is good, classic yet well executed. Well priced My kind of place for a regular dining experience. They " cut the b****it" on the food, service and decore.

Wanted to try some French Canadian cuisine and decided on L'Express. We made reservations and the restaurant certainly filled up quickly. The servers are attentive and the inside of the restaurant has a nice Parisian bistro vibe. After you order, you're served bread with butter and mini cornichons with mustard. We ordered the grilled octopus, duck confit and hanger steak with shallot butter and fries. The octopus was super tender and grilled perfectly, served with a fresh chunky romesco-type sauce and sautéed sweet bell peppers. The duck confit was tender and had a rich sauce that was savoury, slightly sweet and had great depth of flavour. The hanger steak understandably wasn't the most tender cut but was cooked properly and the shallot butter on top was delicious. Fries were also great.

Restaurant l'Express is a restaurant after my own heart. I grew up with French parents in Chicago and ate at restaurants like this in the 1960s and 70s in France all the time. It always feels very nostalgic coming here. The staff is great, the service is great, good wine list - both of them, the menu has everything I want. The food is mostly good. I love the steak frites, confit, chicken liver parfait, etc. They do the classics well. What I thought was lacking was their ravioli and their kataifi wrapped goat cheese. The ravioli is filled with meat in basically a demi glace with some mushrooms. I wish they had made more a broth based sauce with herbs they would have tasted better. The goat cheese idea was genius but the execution was only ok. When I was a chef of a provencale restaurant I used to use kataifi a lot. The part I like the best is when the extruded threads of dough are mixed with some kind of fat (olive oil, butter) and baked they turned seriously crispy. That is part of the appeal. In my head I was imagining a crunchy exterior and a creamy goat cheese interior. What we got was partially cooked kataifi that was kind of soggy. Love this place and that won't stop me from returning. Just a heads up to the talented chef.

Service was quick and attentive. Free bread and pickles come with your meal too! (pickles are amazing) Portions are good, pricing is what I expected from a French Bistro. The duck confit was a little on the too salty side, tho the mashed potatoes were amazing.

This meal is definitely one of my favourites. My wife and I came here for her birthday lunch and we’ll definitely be back. We had the roasted quail, the veal carpaccio and the house made ravioli. Everything was executed beautifully and the service was beyond friendly. We instantly felt welcomed. Our server did a great job making recommendations and we were incredibly happy with them.

Great restaurant, nice and motivated staffs. The restaurant was full and under-staffed but the staffs work so hard and so quickly. We had a great night. Food was amazing, very price/quantity friendly. Overall I recommand it and I will come back.
