β β β β β It's a cozy, clean restaurant with a friendly staff and a great authentic menu. The cuisine brought back wonderful memories of the food I had eaten in Tokyo back in May. It was hot, delicious and I knew I was eating authentic good with every bite. I also tried the curry. It was distinctively Japanese in texture, flavour and presentation. It is not as spicey as Indian or Thai, and was a rich brown sauce. Came with nice fluffy rice.
I totally an going to come back here.

β β β β β I had to try it because I was told the food is the closest version of Japan. We dined during the evening of Tuesday January 29; our waiter was very polite and hospitable. He made sure to fill our drinks and cleared empty dishes promptly. Never once did we have to wave him down, unlike most Toronto restaurants. In terms of food, I think I have found my new go-to comfort food spot. I canβt recommend a favourite because it was all very delicious! For my next visit, I would love to try their infamous Motsu Nabe!!

β β β β β Fri August 27 at 7:20 pm I waited for 25 minutes for a basic cold ramen and some edamame for takeout. This requires boiling noodles and steaming edamame. It doesn't take more than 5 minutes.
THE NOODLES ARE SOGGY AND OVER COOKED!
I received my order, and the portions are very small and this dish cost $13.50 pre tax. There is one slice of cheap Schneider's ham cut up into 10 smaller pieces one cherry tomato cut in half, half an egg -scrambled, it's not even a whole egg.... 5 pieces of cucumber and 5 slivers of pickled ginger and some uncooked and unseasoned bean sprouts.
I just moved to the area and was hoping to find a good izakaya close by. I won't return to this establishment.

β β β β β Most authentic and real Japanese meal I have ever had in town. I was like back in Japan and the taste reminded me of all the amazing things of Japan. The portion might not be sufficient for locals but the food is definitely in exceptionally good taste, and this place is perfect for having a drink and some light food.

β β β β β Koyoi used to be one of my fav izakaya in downtown Toronto but looks like their portion size has been downsized for some reason? A bit disappointing.
Yes, I will still go to Koyoi for good draft sapporo beer but a bit hesitant to say they have good food.
If you are tired of loud and crow packed izakaya, koyoi is a place for you! But dont expect much in terms of food portions.
Hopefully they can increase their food portions a bit soon!

β β β β β authentic Japanese food but the portions were small to share amongst three people (except for the curry fries β which were delicious). we found ourselves continuing to order food because we were still hungry. however, everything was seasoned well, and the fish cakes were particularly good. they offered a seasonal maze udon which was light and refreshing. great selection of drinks and happy hour made it better. worth a try!

β β β β β Great place for a drink and a quick lunch, especially if you like Sapporo. The portion sizes are a bit more like a tapas sized but the flavors are all really great.
A personal favorite is the beef tongue, I'd highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't tried it before. Other classics such as udon or karaage are great too. They don't have Oden anymore unfortunately, miss that one the most.

β β β β β Probably a great place for drinks but their food doesn't disappoint either. Many fares are geared towards tapas style, and the service is great.
With the amount of space they occupy inside, it's surprising they have that many items in their menu. There's a patio during the warmer days.
