About Kindred Food + Drink
Relentlessly motivated and hard-working, Chef Jason’s culinary career has taken him across Canada and back again. After getting his professional start cooking in Fredericton, New Brunswick, he spent back-to-back summers in the mountains of Lake Louise, Alberta, followed by productive stints at a popular Italian restaurant and four-star hotel in downtown Halifax. Since 2010, Chef Jason has worked his way up through several acclaimed kitchens in Edmonton — from executing seasonally inspired tasting menus at the upscale Madison’s Grill to crafting simple, flavourful dishes at Tzin Wine and Tapas, a charming 24-seat gem. Most recently, Jason headed up the restaurant team at The Westin Edmonton, where he proved himself as a seasoned chef and dependable leader.
In 2019, Jason joined the Oliver & Bonacini team as Chef de Cuisine at Kindred Food + Drink, serving recognizable classics with a playful accent. In 2022, Chef Jason’s role has expanded to oversee culinary operations at Braven and Alchemy. In this position, Chef Jason is excited to welcome Edmonton locals and out-of-towners alike while working closely with trusted farmers and suppliers to showcase beautiful Alberta beef, Canadian coastal seafood, housemade pasta and seasonal vegetables.
When he’s not in the kitchen, Jason can often be found snowboarding, playing golf or gathered around a campfire with friends. “I still love to cook on my days off,” he says. “I always end up back in the kitchen because that’s where I’m comfortable. That’s my zone.”

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Loved my experience at Kindred! The service was top notch and they made me feel very welcome! Isabel was awesome to deal with and the rest of the staff were wonderful as well! Ordered the apple stuffed French toast which was incredible! Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and will definitely be going back very soon!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ First time out in just over a year since Covid and the lockdowns and, I had a great time! The food was amazing, the service was even better. It was super clean, you could see the staff actively cleaning as tables were finished and departing. Everyone was super friendly and cheerful. Just a great, welcoming vibe. Isabel, (our server) was super nice, very knowledgeable, quick and efficient. I can't wait to go back. Definitely in my top 3 restaurants to go to in Edmonton! Highly recommended ??

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Interesting menu with a ton of variety, but none of the three dishes (pictured) we ordered quite hit the spot. I feel like Kindred might be a jack of all trades but master of none. Feels more like a nice social spot in the ICE District than for the amateur foodie.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We went there for breakfast while staying at the hotel. Wow, what an amazing breakfast! Prices are higher but totally worth it. Portions are larger and the quality exceeds all expectations. We had the avocado toast and the mushroom toast. Both were amazing and not to mention the coffee was great. We will be going back. Last, but not least, the service was great, our waitress was attentive and took care of us well.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This was a nice place to start the day with brunch/lunch. I had the waffles and they were crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, and came with a tangy berry compote and syrup. The server also noticed I used the honey from my tea on the waffle and they brought me some without me even asking! The service was very attentive and I can tell that the staff really strive hard to make dining a great experience.
