Kim's Katsu - Calgary

Their Hire Katsu (Pork Tenderloin) is the best! Super tender, tasty and the breading had the right amount of crisp but not too greasy. It comes with a side of salad, miso soup and pickled ginger. My wife got the Katsu Curry and I’d say they have one of the best tasting curry sauce in the city! I like it cause there’s no big chunks of carrots and potatoes in it, and they just focused on delivering great taste to the sauce. It also comes with an egg over rice. The Katsu in their Katsu Curry wasn’t that tender as the Hire Katsu. But I think it compliments the curry sauce as it will make the Katsu more soggy and tasty. They only have a few tables inside so plan ahead and come early on rush hour or weekends.

Delicious Katsu in some very reasonable (and perhaps large) portions for the price! Atmosphere was great and staff polite! Would recommend if you're in the area or looking for some excellent Japanese cuisine

We went here for my birthday celebration. We ordered appetizers (Takoyaki and Chicken Katsu) and it was pretty disappointing. I love Takoyaki and I’ve eaten my fair share. Their squid was chewy and the bonito flakes was lacklustre. The takoyaki was overall β€œmeh” and didn’t taste great; it wasn’t worth the money. There was not enough sauce either. The chicken karage was ok. Both portions were not worth the $8 (the portions were TINY) compared to other places who offer the same items. In addition, the service was a bit poor and slow as we waited to order appetizers at least 15min after giving and getting our drinks. It felt like we were abandoned which was unfortunate. On a positive note, the Katsu was phenomenal. The portions for the meal were huge. The shrimp was delicious and the cheese was gooey. Could’ve been a bit more rice but I love rice too much. Overall, don’t order appies and just order the main.

Yum! Super delicious Katsu and very generous portions of food. I ordered the King's Katsu, which came with two huge pieces of Katsu covered in demiglace sauce and came with some corn soup, super yummy. My other party ordered Curry Katsu donburi and was good as well, but the Curry flavour was very standard, similar to Japanese curry roux.

Katsu itself was great, seasoning was good and side dishes were good as well. Pricing is a little bit high for the portion size and I found a seaweed peace in the water cup.

This place has been consistent in preparing variations of the popular TonKatsu dish. Personally, I prefer the takeout option for the coziness of eating at home or the speediness of eating in the car. Great quality / price.

I’ve been here sooo many times. I’ve taken multiple friends here and it never disappoints!! ₍ᐒ. Μ«.α’β‚Ž The cheese katsu is usually my go to here, but recently I got the assorted set and it might be my new favourite- perfect if you’re indecisive like me haha. The batter is light and crispy, (I heard they make their own bread crumbs here too) not too oily and I think the variety of pickles they give you with your meal is very nice! ΰ¬ͺ(ΰΉ‘β€’α΄—β€’ΰΉ‘)ଓ β™‘

Excellent spot for some crispy and fresh katsu. Great menu items, and I was totally surprised by the portion size of the kings katsu, it was massive! The Japanese curry hit the spot. The meal also came with sweet corn soup, and it was definitely needed on the cold day. I will be back to try the other katsu places, prices were great. Service was helpful and welcoming.
