I have known Joanne for a long time and her service has always been excellent! She always makes sure to take gentle care of my hair, not even harming them when I permed my hair straight with magic and dyed it at the same time. Also, the salon is very clean and follows proper covid-19 procedures which ensures your health!

Thanks Joanne for her professional and attentive services. I was glad that I took her advice on a brand new hair style with straight perm and highlights which results in many good comments from my friends. Will definitely come again for color sooner or later.

This is my first time leaving a review on google. I couldn't really find right hair designer for myself in Richmond so I've been going there and there for a some time. Then I went to Jo's hair since last year and I'm fully satisfied so far. For a reasonable price , you could experience Joanne's professionalism of cutting, perming, and styling . I even brought my whole family to her salon! And she has a very positive vibes with her it's always please to see her. Very highly recommended hair salon in Richmond! Thank you Joanne!

I don't usually write google reviews and today I am forced to do so because of the haircut I received at Jo's. I was really excited to try that salon after seeing all the great reviews posted online. But I am really disappointed with the haircut I received from Jo's. My experience - did not use a heat protection spray before ironing my hair. - a week after the hair cut I had to see another "stylist" to rescue my hair. - After a wash my hair looked as though the ends were chopped off roughly using a kitchen knife. Honestly, I could have given myself a better haircut. - personal questions (not a big fan of oversharing my personal life) - Communication gap - It seemed like most of the time the chief hairstylist did not quite understand what I was trying to say. I don't believe that someone has to speak the perfect English, but I think it is vital to understand what a customer is trying to communicate to cater to their needs effectively. Pros:- 1. Clean salon and convenient location 2. Good shampooing. How to improve:- 1. The place has a lot of potential and can actually use a stylist who is abreast with all the latest hairstyles. 2. Stay current (Observation) A lot of senior women including my friends' mother goes there on a regular basis for their routine hair needs. But when it comes to styling or catering to a younger generation like ours I feel that Jo's misses the mark.

I was excited to try this salon as I saw high ratings on google, so I booked an appointment with Joanne. However, what awaited me was a series of disappointments. First of all, Joanne doesn't speak English very well. I asked her questions but her answers showed that she could not understand my questions. I went with virgin hair, and I showed her photos of the hair I wanted to have. I asked her to dye my hair copper red and perm my hair so that I can have medium sized curls. After a good 5 hours appointment, my hair color barely changed, and I had big waves instead of curls. She dared to ask 360 dollars for this, and told me that she will fix it for free because I wasn't satisfied. I decided to give her a chance. The second time I went back, I only did the color, which was still not what I wanted. It's still much darker that copper red. Then I went back for the third time to get my hair permed again, but this time she used tiny rollers, and the curls are too small and it looks like my hair got fried. She also tried to layer my hair, but she did a horrible job at layering, and now it looks like it's been chewed up by dogs. She could not get the main job done but offered things on the side like streaks of highlights or giving me a free styling gel. She wasted more than 10 hours of my time and destroyed my hair. In the end I got my refund, but now my hair is so damaged and looks horrible. I would not recommend Joanne to anyone.
