Jim's Pre-Hung Doors Ltd - Richmond

I had not hired this company for their services. I was selling my bed and the person who purchased it hired a company to disassemble the bed and move it to its new location. The truck which the "moving company" brought said Jim's pre hung doors" on it and the phone number on the truck matches that of this listing. I assume either Jim's Pre hung doors also works as a moving company or they lent someone the truck. Either way, one of the two men who came in the truck to dissemble the bed stole my husband's gold wedding ring which was on the shelf in our bedroom. It was there and 5 mins later gone. He quickly hid it away in his enormous truck or somewhere else. When I asked to give it back he said rudely to check the truck- however it would be impossible to find anything in there. He was extremely self righteous and didn't care at all that we were upset. He was laughing and speaking another language with his colleague. I called the police and made a report but unfortunately they were unable to do anything and therefore this thief was able to get away with one of our most precious possessions. I would refrain from hiring this company because they clearly have no professional etiquette or values or they let low life thieves work with them and use their vehicles. And always keep a close eye on anybody you let into your home. Some people are so good at stealing, they can literally do it right under your nose.

The owner is most rude and arrogant fellow. I will never forget when our carpenter sent the damaged door back with my wife. After spending few thousand $ here, this man insulted my wife for asking to exchange one door. I filed charges against him at better business bureau. Avoid doing business with this place.

This place has the worst service ever! It took them 2 weeks to build the simplest closet doors. Every time that I called to ask for an update they answered "I don´t see your file on our system, but as soon as I find it I will call you back" and they never, ever call back. I had to push them to finish the work and finally they asked me to pick up the doors myself. When I told them that my car doesn´t fit the doors, they made a big issue and they offered to deliver in the next two days. They delivered one week late (Extra Fee) and the delivery guy was so lazy that he wanted to leave the doors outside of the building. We asked him to deliver them to the apartment, and he just took them to the elevator and said "OK, that is all what I can do" and he left. By the way, they charged me GST and PST in my invoice and never provided one. This guy Jim is a total scam! Be cautious and never use their services. In the mantime I will report him to the CRA and the BBB.

Be aware! Brought my door out there to replicate for me. They told me it would be "identical". Picked it up, brought it back, painted it, put the hardware back on and hung. Door won't close by a long shot. Called back and asked if they had someone who could come and plane it down. Said no bring it back. Only problem is we don't have a truck to bring it back had to make arrangements. Asked Jim if we would offer some credit if we had to arrange a ride to come all the way back. Was rude said no and hung up on me. The place is a dive, they only take cash. I hate places that take advantage of people so I thought I would do my part and let you all know.

Seriously a joke of a business. We were told to come pick up our door on Thursday morning and we didn’t show up till 4:45pm giving them an entire extra day. When we showed up Jim waved us away saying it’s not ready, come back tomorrow at 11. After explaining we drove 30 mins to pick it up because we were given a phone call and told it was already ready, we were rudely dismissed without an apology or an attempt to keep us even a little bit happy. We asked them to deliver it the next day and the rude little woman who wouldn’t get up from her desk in the back office said she didn’t know where the driver would be and she couldn’t deliver it. The fact that we didn’t get a call at any point telling us it wasn’t ready or a follow up phone call the next day to arrange delivery or to apologize and tell us the door is now ready it’s been nearly a week and we haven’t heard from them. I’m sure our door is just sitting there now. My partner and I are two working professionals with very little time for home improvements. Let alone a wasted 1 hour round trip. DO NOT USE THIS “BUSINESS” they will screw you over.

They initially seemed friendly enough, but the following issues we had will not have us coming back: -Told me it would take about a week for my door to be ready from the time deposit was given. I paid in full and it’s been almost a month and still no door. -Asked for a follow-up a week after I paid in full if my door would be ready soon. Was informed that they would only begin construction of the door after I had paid the deposit. So not only did they not start on my door, they forgot that I paid for the door in full. -Wouldn’t do simple arithmetic in order to complete my door measurements, waited on me to give it to them even though they had more information than I did (jamb thickness, etc.). -Did not reply to my email and took a day to reply to my follow-up phone call 3 days later. -When Isabel finally called me back, she admitted that she forgot to respond to my email and told me I could pick-up the door on Thursday morning. When we arrived Thursday afternoon, we were told that the door was not ready and to come back the next day, then abruptly waived away. There was ample time for them to call and tell us that the door was not ready but they didn’t. Would not even offer to deliver when we inquired since we had driven all the way from North Vancouver to pickup the door. Isabel and Jim slipped up repeatedly which consequently cost us in time and money. Additionally, they made no attempt to even remotely make us feel better about the situation. Very disorganized and poor customer service. I've purchased doors from several suppliers and this one is the worst one by far.

I have been dealing with Jim and Isabel for just over 2 decades, they are top notch!

I have a lot of questions about replacing 3 exterior doors and one has 2 site lite. My contractor only gives me a measurement of “wall to wall”. I have been to few others stores; I was confusing with measurement on 2 site lite. Then I visited Jim’s Prehung Doors Ltd., Mike Fong has been very helpful, he holds my hands and walk through all my concerns. He replied all my calls/email within time Frame. I am so impressed by Mike’s excellent services. Quality of doors are pretty good with a lot of choices. He even offers free measurement in site. I want to thank you Mike and Roy for such professional advice. Good management, good team. I will refer my family, friends, and neighbours deal with Jim’s Prehung Doors Ltd.
