Maybe because it’s late but quality is really subpar for a Japanese owner restaurant. I’ve been to many family owned Japanese restaurants and they are much betters. Takoyaki soggy and old 0/5 Tantan noodles. Looks unappetizing had to add water 2.5/5 Saba fish bento was $17 for a small piece of fish and a half salad and 2 pieces of eggs? Way too expensive tbh… the egg smelled odd. this is the only dish that I actually ate in full, except the egg... 3/5

They have a fairly extensive menu of homestyle Japanese dishes at very reasonable prices. The food is passable but unremarkable.

It’s like being in Japan. The place is so cute and homey and the food was really delicious, thoughtful, and healthy-tasting. Would recommend!

Everything was simple and tasty. Nothing super fancy but it’s great for a quick and tasty bite.

Glad I found an authentic homestyle Japanese restaurant near our home. I had the Teriyaki Hamachi Bento set + Genmai cha tea. It came with miso soup, salad, and pickles. They even have black cod bento set. And various onigiri. Next time, I want to try the udon + onigiri combo.

Super cute authentic Japanese restaurant run by a Japanese couple. You won't find tons of rolls on their menu; What you'll find instead are unique homecooked style Japanese dishes that taste fresh and high quality! It's a small restaurant so seating is very limited. They follow covid protocols and check your vaccine passport and ID. There is a large menu along with different daily specials. My sister, niece, and I all shared the following: Chicken karaage - Meatful pieces with no skin so it's on the healthier side. Really tasty and comes with some dipping mayo! Ebi mayo - I enjoyed how the tempura batter was hard but not too much of it so that it took away from the prawn meat. It was a nice balance of meat and batter. Chicken teriyaki don - Again, big pieces of meat with no skin. Sauce was delicious and you can tell its homemade. The chicken pieces were on top of thinly sliced cucumber pieces. Spam aburi - They only had two left but they were so good! Really big pieces. Sable fish bbq platter - The fish was buttery, sweet, and delicious. It came with a small salad, rice, and a baked scrambled egg appetizer. Takoyaki - Really delicious and again you can tell its freshly made. As with most Authentic Japanese kitchen style restaurants, the portions are on the smaller side. I personally don't mind but just something to keep in mind!

A hidden gem. I had neither heard of this place nor read about it in articles of top Japanese restaurants, only saw it's high rating in Google Maps. The place is small, with only a couple of tables and counters. Despite this, the menu is remarkably wide and the food is consistently excellent. There is only one chef and one waitress. There might be a bit of a wait but it is worth it as the food is not just artfully presented but prepared with perfect technique. The seasoning is on point; the chef is tasting and adjusting her flavour profiles. I rarely finish my miso soup but the one here is so full-bodied and satisfying, seemingly made from scratch (that is, by simmering kelp as opposed to rehydrating from powder), that I eagerly finished every last drop. Been here three times now. Looking forward to trying the rest of the menu. Pictured: Tan Tan Udon, Sablefish, and Spam Musubi.
