Jackson Square Dental Centre - Hamilton

I went here for the first time last week. I did not have a good experience. The dental assistant was lovely but that’s where the good experience ended. The dentist came in, didn’t even acknowledge me or introduce himself. He looked at my tooth for under a minute, told me it needed to be extracted and told me he was going to write me a prescription for antibiotics and pain meds. I was confused about the pain meds, as he didn’t even ask me if I was in pain. I told him that I had no pain at all, he told me that must be wrong and to take the prescription. I did not fill it. A dentist office that deals with Ontario Works and ODSP patients, many with addictions, should not be so quick to write pain medication prescriptions. They went over a payment plan for a root canal and we’re very pushy that I book an appointment and figure out what plan I wanted. I had to say 3 times that I wanted a few days to think about it and that I would get back to them. They were very rude after I said that. I decided to get the tooth extracted instead and called to book an appointment. She gave me an option of Friday that I could not take and she was extremely annoyed and made it for Monday. I called back saying that I needed to change the appointment (got put on hold for over 10 minutes and eventually hung up). They called me and I said I needed to change the appointment because I didn’t realize it was family day and I would have to bring my children. She told me that I would be charged $75 to change my appointment and that was their policy (it was never once disclosed to me). I said I would not be going there and I would be taking my business elsewhere. A manager called me back stating the policy again and that I would have got the policy in my email (I have never received a email from this dentist office). She offered to wave the fee which was nice of her once I pushed back against them not disclosing their policy. However in the end I decided to take my business elsewhere as I did not have a good experience. Please be careful of this place. They are extremely pushy and are writing prescriptions for pain meds that are not needed.

Very excellent service and staff. I do believe they're The best Dentistry in Hamilton. (Like most dentistries though they will take your wisdom teeth for no apparent reason other than "you don't need them". I later learned that You only need to get impacted or defective teeth removed because they are like spare tires in case you need good teeth; you have some that work just as good in the back)

Superb service provided to my wife and myself by the Jackson Square Dental Team for many years by Dr.Akkad and current hygienist Vee. Patients are always kept in the loop regarding their treatment and benefits or payment packages. Located in an easily accessible downtown location, the surgery itself being spacious and clean with great support from the professional and friendly admin staff. Thank you!

I was able to get in the next day while some other dentists didn't have an opening for over a month. Super friendly staff, Hygienest Vee was so nice and welcoming, and made the visit very easy. Dr. Akkad was very professional and made a plan to get my issues fixed. Highly recommend

Don’t go here! The receptionist at the front ( the lady of colour on the bigger side)acts like she owns the place. From day one she was extremely rude and arrogant. I brought a family here ( newcomers) and I happened to be the mentor and translator for them and from the beginning everyone at the front was rude and unprofessional. I went in for a consult with the mom of the family to get an X-ray on a tooth that needed urgent care and they suggested so many other treatments on different teeth which I was not okay because they were all cosmetic procedure not preventive and no need for any of them. We went in for a tooth not for a new smile. That’s not good dentistry! I work in the dentistry field and know what a good practice is!!! The mom had some fillings done and now has pain in one of the tooth worked on. Due to that.. Out of concern I asked for them to release the daughters X-rays to evaluate the cavities that needed to be done, for the dentist to explain his tx plan because these people are money grabbers and want to hustle insurances but refuse to give it to me, they wanted me to just say yes to everything, so many times they tried to make it seem okay not to explain a procedure, or release X-rays even after the mom had already sign a consent form to release them. Nobody seems to know anything there and always have you wait. I called bc the mom has pain on the tooth worked on so she could get that checked, the lady on the phone was giving me a hard time telling me she didn’t know the dentist schedule and to wait a month to get it fixed and giving me attitude. I saw the work that was done and it is not good the tooth is prep and it was never filled and not to mention now the Patient has a lot of sensitivity on that tooth. It’s very unorganized and when I went in the first time the assistants were all over the place, getting yelled at by the dentist. Today they made me drive all the way to the office lock me in a room without my consent to tell me the girl I was helping translate for was not getting any dental care. Simply because I said explain what she needs and show me X-rays. They expect you to blindly trust them. No! Don’t trust these people. We DO NOT care they refuse service we were leaving anyways, the issue was the drive! These people waste your time and money. Don’t go their. Worse work I’ve seen in my 6 years of working at a dental office as a hygienist.

The used car business/puppy mill of "Dental services". Quantity over quality. It's all about the money with them and it shows. Upsell - Sell - Sell - Sell and recommend the more expensive dental services whether you need them or not. Very pushy sales tactics. They even talk fast while trying to get you agree to these extras. From the many plastic office doors to the outdated dental equipment to the fast talking salesman... I mean dental assistant to the harsh hard to understand "dentists"... everything just feels off and wrong about this place. They didn't want to listen or act on my teeth concerns but push for the more expensive alternative, then seemed to get angry and frustrated when I declined their services. I just didn't feel comfortable with pushy people whose qualifications are questionable messing with my teeth. If it doesn't feel right or you have concerns... just walk away. There are hundreds of other dentists out there that will put you at ease. This isn't one of them. It's all about high numbers of people with them, high turnover rates while charging you the maximum they can get out of you. In and out like an assembly line. Quantity over quality here. Stay away. You've been warned!

I am so grateful for this place. Everyone was so nice, very professional and welcoming. Hats off to Saber who cleaned my teeth the best I have ever got done. So gentle and fast too. Thanks to all the staff who were all very kind. I will definitely keep going here.

Great experience from the moment I arrived. Receptionist Kristen greeted me with a big smile. Having anxiety (amplified at the dentist) DH V was amazing at calming my nerves. You can tell she loves her job. Extremely personable and will be returning for her specifically. Dr. Akked was amazing at understanding my needs and helped me explore the best options for the work I need done. Highly recommend ??
