Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic

Impressed with the care my kitty received today. Thorough, compassionate and understanding. All the staff I dealt with were friendly and helpful. Cost not exorbitant considering they provide 24/7 emergency care. Jax and I are grateful!

I am not too sure where to begin... I will never recommend this Veterinary clinic to anyone, and I most definitely will never bring my pets back. My 6 month old kitten had just been spayed, and her trachea was torn. My Vet told me to bring her to Huronia. Huronia had admitted her for two days, but informed me that they were not providing any care for her Subcutaneous Emphysema, but were closely monitoring her. Two days later, they discharged her back into my care, and provided me with NO instruction on how to care for my kitten, and did not give her anything to relieve the pain. One night after her discharge, I brought her back to the Huronia Vet because her condition was quickly deteriorating. After waiting several hours in the parking lot, they sent me home with my kitten, stating the she was okay. Not even one hour later at home, my kitten was having respiratory distress. I called the Veterinary Doctor, and expressed that I felt that he did not even take my kitten out of the carrier for the examination. Knowing that he had made a mistake, he told me to bring my kitten back and I would be allowed inside with her. Not even a few minutes after our arrival, they took my kitten from me, and had to put her on oxygen to support her breathing, because she was weakening on her own. Huronia then proceeded to tell me that they could not care for her complex case, and we would have to take her elsewhere. If Huronia had provided adequate care in the first place, this would have not happened. Instead, I was forced to take my kitten, who was having trouble breathing, to a complex care facility in Toronto. Thank goodness she had made the one hour trip, and was admitted by a team of Intensive Care doctors. My kitten spent 3 days in Toronto, and received medication, antibiotics and care, that Huronia had neglected to offer. The "care" that this Vet has shown our family is unacceptable. Not only the trauma to my cat, but to our family. Very, very disappointed.

I don’t even have words to describe how horrible this emergency clinic is. Given the fact that someone would only go to this clinic for a emergency, you would think they would be understanding of your emotions with whatever is happening with your pet. Instead, they only care about payments rather than the care of your pet. My pet needed emergency surgery, having gone back and forth with them to finally agree on the surgery and the agreed estimate. Once I gave them the ok for the surgery they than changed the estimate to almost double and required a deposit of my original quote. Completely unacceptable. All said and done, I called my original vet to see if they could preform the surgery- they said yes. My dog was still there and I just wanted to rush her out to get her into surgery. They couldn’t understand that and would NOT give me my dog until I paid for her blood work and X-ray even though I would pay as soon as I got my dog into her surgery. No sympathy whatsoever. Will never bring my dogs here ever again. Completely disappointing.

Thank you SO much for trusting me! See you before noon on Thursday, Jan. 27/22. I highly recommend your clinic, where I brought my Kita in July/20. Where would pet lovers/parents be without you?! Sammy is glad to be home and feeling SO much better. As do I !!! Blessings to you all for your expertise, care and understanding. Your staff puts kindness back into 'human.'

I had to say goodbye to my girl yesterday. It was so unexpected and all happened within an hour of finding her struggling on my bedroom floor. We had a serious emergency with her that suddenly happened that morning. We rushed her here. They got her on oxygen the second we walked her through the door. They did x rays and gave me my options for her, and we decided euthanasia was the better option for her. I couldn’t let her live like that. It was a bit uncomfortable and awkward dealing with finances as I was waiting to let my cat go, but I understand it’s a business and it has to be done. They gave us our time to say goodbye, she was treated with respect. She was comfortable when she drifted off. That is what’s important. Thank you for trying to help my girl.

I cannot say thank you enough to this clinic and to Dr. McKee in particular. I came in very late one night two weeks back as my puppy was not eating that day. Through examination Dr. McKee discovered what was wrong. He was very knowledgeable and provided me with trusted advice and I was able to make a decision as to how to move forward. Although I was beside myself that night I left her in their trusted hands and she is home and has almost made a full recovery. The staff were all VERY compassionate and understanding. The Doctor made sure to update me, and even when I called several times for more updates the staff were all very pleasant and eager to help me. They seemed to all know who my sweet girl was and that gave me a good feeling, knowing they really cared. If you think something might be wrong with your pet, please do go and seek assistance here. They are a great bunch! Thank you from Halle and her family.

On 3 separate occasions I have needed the Emergency clinic for my dog and cats and am blown away by the excellent service we received. Absolutely amazing vets and staff!!! Thank you so very much.

Saturday of Easter weekend and my dog Theo and I (who is petrified of the car) were travelling 5 hours from Parry Sound for our family gathering. It was my first time trying tranzadone for his extreme anxiety, and I overdid it. The woman who answered the phone that morning at Huronia was so compassionate, and listened to all my questions. She was able to relay the answers from the vet quickly and clearly. I was able to make an informed decision as to what to do next. When I asked how I should pay them they said no need!.... To those people who criticize vets for being in it for the money, this is a classic example of how they are so wrong. Thank you so very much.
