I can sadly confirm the presence of colonies of ants and cockroaches in this huge old building. The only solution that worked was to completely seal the kitchen from the building by using a caulking gun to seal all cracks and crevices EVERYWHERE (above and below the cabinets, along the floor and ceiling, around the power outlet, etc.) Perhaps more worrying for long-term tenants is the fact that Minto consistently raises the rent above the guidelines set by the Ontario government by using a legal process involving a tribunal and this has been happening every single year for as long as I can remember. The location of the building is it's only saving grace: walking distance to the commercial center of Nepean and short bus rides to Baseline station in the west, Billing Bridge station in the east, and Tunney's Pasture station in the north. The Rideau Canal and Rideau River are a short bike or bus ride away. The Minto administrative and maintenance staff's competency ranges from "just good enough" to get the job done to complete incompetence. I have to commend Minto for updating the building's shared interior areas (lobby, corridors, apartment doors, etc.) although it has to be stressed that solving the pest problem should have been prioritized over this latest "aesthetic" upgrade. Needless to stay, I do not recommend this building. Do yourself a favor and avoid it.

-- Cockroaches in the basement laundry room I told them about a year ago, now have spread to other floors. -- There is always a urine smell in the elevators. -- They neglect snow and ice build-up, resulting in dents and a cracked window on my dad's car. They gave us the run around for a couple weeks when we tried to get information for insurance. -- Walls are paper thin, I can hear my neighbours opening and closing doors or even just neighbours in the apartment across the hall or next door talking at a normal indoor volume I can hear. -- Even when the heat is off in the summer, hot air is still blowing through the vents even during heatwaves. -- Garbage/litter in the hallways all the time. -- it's not uncommon to find vomit in the lobby and if it happens on a weekend it'll be there until Monday. -- Service people broke my fridge I bought for myself (Minto supplied appliances are terrible and small so I had to buy an additional fridge) and now all my food is spoiling and I need a new one. -- Originally when I came in they said I would have a different / better type of flooring but couldn't show me the exact apartment and whatdoya know it's the basic cheapo flooring. -- They lose rent cheques. -- They come to fix things but cause other problems instead when they're here. They "fixed" my bathroom light switch but now the attached outlet doesn't work. -- The washing machines often stop halfway through a load and you have to pay all over again to restart. And some of the dryers your clothes get caught in between the door and the inside as they are tumbling around and it rips holes in your clothes and leaves black marks on your white clothes but you can't do anything to stop it once it's started because the machine doors lock. These faulty machines have been an issue for the nearly 2 years that I've been here. -- They give you "notice" and by that I mean on Sept 4 they put up a notice they dated Aug 31 and when they came to give notice for pest check they dated it 4 days earlier than the day they actually delivered it. This goes for water shut-off, when all elevators are out of service, and fire alarm testing... sometimes the notice is given that day but the date they put on the notice is a day or two earlier. You can't claim to be giving proper notice just because you fudge the dates on the notice! We're not stupid we know what you're doing!

Electricity and water shutdown almost every week for 8 hours! They are taking such huge amounts of rent and cant even provide reliable electricity and water?? And never they have ever compensated anything for these inconveniences. DO NOT come to this building, there are many other buildings with cheaper rent and better facilities

I have been in this building for seven months. When I first moved in, there were cockroaches in my apartment. The landlord responded quickly with pest control and I haven't seen anything since. The building is kept clean and the landlord keeps the place in good repairs. There is a nice heated salt water pool. It is close to everything. I've had no problems with other pests , noise or smells. Like any other apartment, that largely depends on your neighbours. After viewing a dozen or so apartments before coming here, I think this was a good decision.

I've stayed at 1339 Meadowlands for 5 months and I would recommend it. The apartment was clean, no pests or even insects ever seen during my 5 months there. The apartment wasn't the newest but it was spacey and everything worked fine. The balconies are nice and the views are beautiful. I could see all of downtown Ottawa from the 6th floor and watched dozens of sunsets. There's plenty of shopping and 2 or 3 grocery stores within walking distance. It's a very safe neighbourhood, there's a school across the street. Plenty of parking and a little playground for kids, even a mini dog park. The building itself is pretty new and clean. Laundry facility wasn't bad. A few of my complaints are that the elevators are really slow. The tenants often leave old furniture in the common rooms of every floor which is annoying. The management isn't terrible, but took some work to get ahold of them at times or didn't give me much notice before entering my apartment. Also, the fire alarms tend to go off every 2 weeks for some reason.

I've lived here for the past 5 years and within the last year, the building has made a lot of improvements. I'm not sure if new management came in, but myself and my neighbours have found that maintenance requests were being fulfilled where previously they were not. The building has also been taking control of the obvious pest issues (as seen in other reviews) and it has been proven to be effective. They've also made some more aesthetically pleasing changes to the lobby and hallways as well as the new flooring they've been renovating in old units. I give 4 stars only because I do find that their communication in the office as well as with letters to tenants about entering (ex. fire alarm inspections, routine pest control) can improve. However, this place really has gotten better. It's a good place for students as the location is ideal and a nice spot for someone's first apartment!

You get what you pay for. Not so good place to live. Allot of noise coming from above floor and big issue of bed bugs, cockroaches and mice. I decided to stay here only because all stores are at walking distance and my college is close to it.

Horrible management, I'm from Montreal grew up in NDG . trust me when I say this is the worse place I have ever lived in my life. Roaches, bed bugs. Mold. Packages getting stolen; water shut off without notice. Fire alarms going off all the time. They say they have a pool but, it never works. Water damage in every part of this place.
