The best part about this place is the receptionist. She is so professional, kind, patient, and polite. Haven't seen customer service that good in a long time. I come here for my cat and dog and always left happy.

This has been my long time veterinary clinic for my most recent 2 cats, and they've always been great, be it for routine veterinary visits, quick follow-ups in the case of a seasonal allergy treatment, or monthly weigh-ins to monitor progress for weight-control, but a recent emergency situation didn't go how I expected it to. This rating would have been 5-stars had it not been for an emergency policy that did not work for Pepper and I.

I'd like to start this review by saying the staff is extremely friendly. They're genuinely nice people and they mean well. However, I felt compelled to write this review to warn people in the future. You may be checking the reviews after an odd experience, like I did, wondering if anyone else notices that something is a bit off. The first red flag I had was during my initial meeting with this vet. Everything leading up to the appointment was smooth and friendly. Though, prior to the vet coming in to the room to check on my puppy, they asked if I wanted to do a procedure that was only beneficial in the spring and would need to be redone in 3 months (which would be the spring time... making it 100% useless to do at that time). I told the vet assistant we'd wait and just do what we were there for... It was extremely odd and felt a lot like a cash grab. I checked Anima-Plus's google reviews to see if other people had similar experiences and all I could find were positive reviews about how friendly the staff is. So I decided to stick it out, they seemed organized, friendly and professional. Last Friday my puppy started acting weird. He was clearly in a lot of pain. I contacted Anima-Plus and scheduled an emergency appointment as soon as possible. To their credit, they saw us within 2 hours. They said my dog was in too much pain to do X-rays and they'd need him to be relaxed before they can X-ray him to find out what was wrong. They gave him 2 shots and told us to come back in 3 days to get the X-rays. They also gave me 3 HEAVY DUTY pain medications, advised me to start the medication the following day and that my puppy would be groggy and sleepy on the meds. That night, My puppy was looking much better. I figured the shots had kicked in and he didn't know that he was still in pain. The next morning, I was trying to stop him from playing, running and jumping when I realized he was showing absolutely no signs that he was in pain... The shots were only supposed to last for 24hrs of pain relief and we were passed that 24hr delay. So I called Anima-Plus. While I was on the phone with them, they urged me to give him the medication. They were persistent and said that my puppy was definitely still in pain. I was confused because if he's in pain he'd show some sign that he was in pain and we'd learn something, but if he's drugged up, we won't learn anything. They said that didn't matter and to just give him the medication. One of the drugs was so strong that he'd need to be weened off of it if we started him on it. I opted not to give him the drugs, I decided to just monitor him and get a second opinion instead. The vet that I went to next said that my puppy was in perfect health. They said Anima-Plus had made the right decision with the initial shots they gave and that's likely why my puppy recovered so quickly. However, I was correct to question the drugs. He didn't need them, he was perfectly fine and we wouldn't have known that if he was drugged up. The 2nd vet told me what likely happened and said an X-ray would also be useless because we could see that his spine was okay by the way he was lying down and moving. So, I paid $300 for drugs that I didn't end up needing (which Anima-Plus will not take back) and they wanted me to pay for an X-ray that would've been useless. Though they are nice people, they understand that pet owners will pay whatever it costs to take care of their fur-babies. They know this and they unforgivingly exploit it. That said, the worst part isn't the money. The worst part is that my poor puppy can't speak for himself. He would've been silently suffering at my hands because we would've been giving him crazy drugs that he didn't need. I would've been a wreck watching him suffer, wondering what the heck was wrong with him, meanwhile I would've been the one causing him pain. THIS is what people need to be aware of. THIS is the part that I bear resentment for. It's one thing to steal my money, but it's another thing entirely to put my poor puppy's health at risk for a profit.

My cat was dying of a hypoglycemia, and they accepted him despite the fact that they had no free vets. They kept him for the whole day, and saved his life and our hearts. BIG thank you for not leaving us outside!
