Hong Kong Bakery - Edmonton

HK bakery has always been top notch. Our go to place for the fruit cocktail cake for birthdays. Lots of fruit and we like that the cream is on the lighter side. Cha siu bao (bbq pork bun) and bo loh bao (pineapple bun) are our go to pastries there. The dan tat (egg tarts) are good too. There are places with flakier crusts but I like the denser crusts. It’s a matter of personal preference. My wife loves the white soft rice cake/pastry with red bean filling. We also always order some frozen chicken sticky rice wrapped in lots leaf. The price is decent for the portions of all the stuff we get.

I really wish this bakery had a bigger selection of authentic/traditional Chinese baked goods, especially sweet. Maybe I came on a bad day? The cookies could have been better, but what was the most surprising was that my BBQ pork bun was so sugary, much sweeter than the other "sweet" treats I bought. - Mimi's Cake Tour

Both locations are amazing. My favourite items are definitely the steamed rice cakes, and the mango butter cakes - they're sweet without being too rich or overwhelming, and the fruit flavour is just the right amount. The staff are friendly, and their prices are more than reasonable. Plus they have super delicious bubble tea! Their wedding cakes are gorgeous as well. If you're in the market for a sweet treat and want to support a local business, head to Hong Kong. You won't be sorry.

Went to get a desert for Chinese New Year. They recommended this New Years pudding. Went to dish it up and it was solid rubber. My son broke the spoon trying to get it out. Never been here before. Won’t be back. Wouldn’t recommend it. Too bad they are closed or I would show them personally. Go to TNT.

Limited selection of goods, but did go late in the day. Almond cookies do not have much of an Almond flavor

Went to get some moon cake, love that the shop has been around for years. Pretty decent selection. Smells fabulous and is a pretty clean bakery. Staff was friendly enough. They only take cash. Bakery goods were delicious. The selection was somewhat lacking, it seemed there were a lot of empty shelves.

Very rude staff, didn't have a mask on when I entered as it isn't bylaw in the City of Edmonton or Alberta any longer however the woman working here was adamant that it was Edmonton and Alberta bylaw. Edmonton has dropped it's masking bylaw on March 8th, after the province dropped it on March 1st. If a business wants to enforce it's own masking policy that's fine, however it's incredibly poor customer service to yell at customers who aren't aware that it's still required in the store since they're using old AHS signs that look like they were left up by accident. How about make your own signs and politely tell customers that your shop is still enforcing masks, which is acceptable, instead of freaking out and saying "it's still Alberta law" which it isn't. Just request that customers wear masks as per your own policy instead of stating that it's an Alberta bylaw.

We tried the custard, coconut, chicken and red bean buns and the most wonderful flakiest cone pastries with the lightest cream inside. DIVINE! Really enjoyed them all. We have tried traditional Chinese bakeries in Toronto and halifax and Edmonton is by far the best!
