We can ensure a reduction of herbicides, pesticides and other chemicals being absorbed into our bodies, including a stance against Genetically Modified Products, as they are NOT accepted as organic.

We would like to thank you for choosing Homegrown Foods as your place to shop. We look forward to being able to help you find what you are looking for, and to working with you to ensure we provide you with superior service and knowledge, to help you eat right and live well.

Homegrown Foods Ltd strives to ensure the integrity of the products we carry, through organic principles of agriculture by producers, processors, distributors, and us (the retailer) in the supply and delivery of food and other natural and specialty products.

Homegrown Foods is a locally owned business; the Schoepp family has lived, and we continue to farm, in the Stony Plain area for five generations. In 1996, myself, and a group of other local producers began providing a weekly local and homegrown service to customers who wanted products direct from the farmer. The success of this venture began to formulate a business idea and in 1997 I sold most of my cattle to step into the retail business with no experience in the industry.

Since the doors opened in 1997 the demand and supply for organic and health food has continued to grow. In 2010, the store expanded to include an additional bay and from the original 700 products with 3 suppliers we then boasted over 11,000 products, with about 30 suppliers, including many local.  In 2014 it was another big year for us, in our mission to keep serving the local community, with another expansion of the store and an on-line sales and home delivery service beginning. Currently we carry over 18,000 items, and yet another expansion has opened the store up to include 8000 Square feet of retail space. In 2018 we opened an in-store organic coffee shop to include a menu of baked in-store organic products, soups, salads, sandwiches and specialty beverages; using only biodegradable serving items.  The coffee shop also boosts the only soft serve organic ice cream in Alberta. We continue to grow with the addition of a bakery, scheduled to host our Grand Opening this fall ( 2021).

It’s our pleasure to continue writing history every day, as our customers have turned this potential into a reality, thanks to you, our customer, we can offer local, healthy options to you, our neighbors.
