Holiday Inn Express & Suites Slave Lake, an IHG Hotel

We have been staying at Holiday Inn Slave Lake for a few years and wouldn't stay anywhere else. The friendly Staff are second to none, the room is always exceptional in comfort and cleanliness and any concern is resolved immediately and they make sure that any special requests are top priority to make your stay as comfortable as can be. Through this very hot spell, I want to thank them so much for acting immediately to enhance the A/C performance in the Hotel which was likely not an easy task because of the high demand for repairs in this extreme heat. Fiona, the Manager, and her staff are so friendly and easy to talk to about any request or concern and they all make sure you are very satisfied with your stay. She is a excellent Ambassador for Holiday Inns as that is the only Hotels we prefer to stay at anywhere we go now. Staying in Slave Lake is like staying with Family.

The Holiday Inn in Slave Lake is a decent, average hotel. The facility is modern, clean, and reasonably well maintained. The room was basic, but had everything you needed. The bed and pillows made for a perfectly fine sleeping experience. The staff was civil, but not particularly friendly – basically people who were simply doing their jobs. The exception was the elderly lady who was doing the housekeeping – she genuinely seemed happy to see me. The breakfast wasn’t anything to be excited about. My English muffin with bacon and egg was individually wrapped and quite soggy. It was edible, but definitely a lower quality sandwich than you would expect at your typical McDonalds. Still, it was enough to get me started on my day.

Don't stay here for more than two nights in a row. They will not come clean your room, give you fresh towels, or even take out your garbage. I stayed for two weeks and had to continually ask for towels. I had so much garbage piled up I have to ask for garbage bags. Also the breakfast was terrible, the exact same thing every day. It was very poor quality and well below average for most hotels. I would not recommend staying here, one or two nights is bearable but don't stay any longer than that.

Stayed here 5 nights in a row for field work. They have fridges so that’s nice. I put my fresh garden carrots and other things into the fridge but in the morning everything was frozen solid. The fridge temperature setting was on the lowest. I tried the other end of the dial to troubleshoot the issue but everything was still frozen. I mentioned this to the front desk but was told there were no other fridges available. I offered to go pick one up and install it myself but never heard back. Breakfast is good except they were occasionally temporarily out of certain items like coffee and eggs. Everything was clean but they really should get the dust in the corners. Staff are very friendly.

This is the place to stay at! Very helpful staff, clean rooms and wonderful breakfast! The beds where soft and clean and so did the rooms! An excellent experience. Definitely coming back here!

I work across Western Canada with the railroad so things that matter to me might be a little different than others. I was in room 222, 3 or 4 day stay. Pros: - excellent front desk dealings, particularly a woman I would guess in her late 30s, shoulder length brown hair, tries to get to know all her guests and makes them feel super welcome. If she's not management, I hope the hotel knows how much of an asset she is. - fairly quiet, other than the apartment complex/parking lot on the back side of the hotel (there were some loud vehicles) - spacious king room, but smallish bathroom, although not updated. - room for large truck parking, but it's not designated - great continental breakfast, although only 1 toaster (can be a line when it's busy). -quick elevator, luggage carts available. - microwave & fridge in room. - guest laundry! Nice machines with great pricing, aplthough unfortunately 1 washer is out of order. - great location near amenities! Sobeys, Tim's, Walmart, Dairy Queen, Canadian Tire, liquor store, pharmacy, gas station all within walking distance. Awesome! Cons: - shower head settings include: violent, less violent, and mist. Could use a different shower head. - room thermostat temp reading was WAY off. I was too warm but I thought I was crazy because of the wall thermostat temp reading. I got my own thermometer out and realized it was 12 degrees out (actually 80 degrees in room, thermostat reading 68). - hot tub is out of order, which was super sad. - no daily room service, by request only. Would stay again for sure. Cannot speak to value for price as it was paid by corporate lodging.

Room was comfortable, a quiet location, and friendly staff. Shower pressure was non-existent in room 201. And their website showed a standard room with a photo of a king size bed with jacuzzi tub. But it is NOT accurate because the "Standard Room" does not have a jacuzzi tub. There goes surprising the wife with a spa like weekend. ?
