The place has the best Indian sweets near to Vancouver downtown. The jalebis are the best there and I also love the milk cake sweet. In terms of food, I think they could use some improvement. For example the malai kofta would have been great if it was a bit more spicy. I found that the aloo paranthas are the best there, if you are looking for some bread items.

I ordered the veg thali and I wasn't disappointed. The food tasted quite fresh and almost had a home kitchen taste. I particularly liked the dal and aloo gobi. The staff especially the man in the front seemed courteous and enquired about the taste. The prices are decent as well.. Will definitely come again

This place has been around for 20+ years! They’ve changed their menu up recently and I noticed and increase in the quality for sure. We ordered the Amritsari Kulcha as well as some Keema Naan and Papri Chaat. Everything was delicious, the crunchy and tangy texture/taste of the chaat was good and the kulcha was cooked wonderfully, soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside.

This was a pleasant and welcome surprised. We had horrible experience with another Indian restaurant via Doordash. We asked the cab driver what he recommended and he suggested this place. Wonderful staff. Food was very good. There is buffet option. We opted to order from the menu. Lots of snacks and sweet choices. There were other Indians eating there so that was key signal that it was authentic and not watered down for Western taste. It is on the Main street with #3 bus that took us near the hotel was a bonus. Bus run frequently here which was awesome.

Dishonest place beyond belief. Being non-Indian, I was unfamiliar with Indian food and sweets and came to Himalaya. I wanted a sample of a small piece of Indian sweet and an unfriendly guy at the counter told me that it is around 9 dollars a pound. For that one sample, he charged me $ 1.25 without weighing it & I thought that that was pricey. But I did not argue since it was only $ 1.25. I walked around this Indian neighbourhood after Himalaya and a lady told me that she had bad experience at Himalaya and introduced me to another place called Dhaliwal Sweets on Fraser. I went to Dhaliwal which has the same sweets at the same price as Himalaya. There I told the staff that I wanted a sample. I offered to pay but the staff said it is free. I wanted another sample so I insisted on paying for the second one. She weighed the sample which was just as big as the one I had at Himalaya and I was expecting to pay $ 1.25. It was 30 cents I paid after she weighed it. These are hard times for everyone, but cheating is never the way. $ 1.25 did not make me poorer nor did it make the owner of Himalaya richer. To the owner, why lose your soul and integrity for such small change? A man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions; and a good reputation is worth more than gold.

I like this place. It’s a spacious large restaurant with nice big tables where you can sit and have a good time, and the food is good as well and not too pricey. I take people here just to see the sweets buffet. I’ll drive across town just to come here and the owner is a nice person.

We have gotten takeout from here several times recently, but we stopped to try the buffet this time. It's quite a nice spread, with something for the carnivores, as well as vegetarians. We both enjoyed it. The bill was approximately $14 each. February, 2022 Update: They are no longer offering the buffet, but the menu is as good as ever.

I used to order just Gulab Jamun and Jalebi here via delivery apps. I ordered actual entrees this time and was really disappointed. The Dal Turka was very bland and the Palak Paneer tasted off. It had a slightly sour taste to it like it's spoiled. I contacted the delivery app's costumer service and asked for a refund because I'm not eating it. The Rice Pulao is a bit oily too. Giving them 2 stars because the samosas I ordered were good and the 1lb Gulab Jamun is decent. Never ordering from them though after this disappointing experience.
