Policy on Non Viable Trees
i) HELP adds 5 percentage extra trees to each order without charge to compensate for initial tree losses during establishment. ii) HELP provides any additional trees required for replants (when customer states the trees are for replants) within 18 months of planting at the preferred rate of $1.90 per seedling regardless if amount of trees re-ordered for replants is less than 300.
iii) If an entire batch of a particular species is non viable then HELP will not distribute this non viable variety and will call the customer to arrange a substitution.
iv) If ten or more clients confirm that an entire variety was non viable then HELP will replace or substitute an equal number of trees within a year, but preferably as soon as possible. This applies if there is lack of establishment only when tree care, pests or disease prevalent in customer area, drought, hail, flooding or other extreme climatic conditions are ruled out. The Shelterbelt program receives no government funding and survives 100% on the proceeds of tree sales and HELP's contract plantings revenue.
