Hawood Inn

This is excellent hotel. Located in the heart of city, just in the kitty corner to the beach and one house away from the gas station. Plenty of parking area, good size rooms, very organized reception, excellent customer service. Tons of facilities which could make your travel so handy and comfortable. Some of the 2nd floor suites has a amazing out views of the beach, lake and the beautiful walking path. The best part is the sunset and quick walk at anytime as it is just in the other side of the road. The hotel also offers a backdoor card punch entry for anytime. Hope this information will help...

Restaurant was amazing got the fish and chips, I highly recommend! The actual hotel part was a bit dated but very very clean and well taken care of. Staff was super friendly, the place is right in town close to everything, and the suites are huge! Loved everything about this little Saskatchewan Oasis!

We had not the room we had like apparent. It was good apparent but now body was cleaning up the rooms. I mean during the COVID-19 they do not provide the cleaning services but when I am not in the room you could come and clean it up!!? You know what, when I order the hotel it’s means that I am planning not to clean up or wash the dishes. I planning to rest to enjoy my vocation days. Okay so the restaurant: Location location location. Beautiful views out the windows. Cozy but somewhat dated decor. The staff though are the real jewels here-above and beyond, friendly & helpful! Sadly the menu and food were lacking. Not so good choice of the food. And food that did come out was not very good. One exception: the cheesecake -to die for.

We enjoyed our stay at Hawood Inn. It was winter, and COVID, so everything was quite quiet, but the staff were present and pleasant, and everything as expected. The Inn is older, but well cared for. The free snowshoe and cross country ski borrowing was awesome. The Spa room was clean and comfortable, and the in-room hot tub was wonderful. Two rooftop hot tubs were also operating in the winter. Not too much winter ambiance, but hot tubs till 10:00pm on the roof is open to any guest. Wi-Fi in our room was adequate, though we didn't attempt streaming (ie Netflix). We found our stay pleasant and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Hot Tubs either not working or dirty (filters probably not changed) so do not count on them being useable. BBQ on deck rusted grill thus also not usable. So these are not really amenities as they are not useable. Wi-Fi not useable in condo but in lobby ok Water coolers on site are refilled via their water taps, so if you have drinking water concerns these are not Culligan fills. So Missing out on BBQ and Hot Tub is a large enough problem that they should not advertise them at this point.

My partner and I booked a stay in the honeymoon suite at the Hawood Inn during the 2022 winter season and while the stay overall was fine, there were a handful of minor issues. This was not our first time at the Hawood, so... on some level, we knew what to expect. Although outdated, the rooms are quite clean and contain all the basic hotel amenities (shampoo and soap are provided on wall mounts, but they're not great). There are no bells and whistles - so if you really fancy yourself a trademarked pen and paper pad, you best be prepared to pack your own! The charm of the outdated spot almost works to its benefit, as the lobby is quite cozy. It should also be mentioned that the hotel is in a great location within the town-site, with easy beach access for the summer months and is a short walking distance from most of the main shops. The lobby/foyer is the only spot for wifi, but there's enough cell coverage in the townsite of Waskesiu to live without it, if you're able. During the winter months, you can rent out equipment, free of charge, for snow shoeing and cross country skiing, which is a nice touch. Another nice touch? The two rooftop hot tubs. Always a fun option during a winter stay - but it's worth mentioning that the jets and lights didn't seem to be working during our last visit, and the water level was a tad low in the larger tub. The MacKenzie Dining room is a decent enough spot to grab a quick bite - most items we've ordered were fairly standard, taste wise - but the fish and chips are a must try, you won't be disappointed! Staff have always been friendly, and the service has always been good, which is a huge draw. That being said, we would still label the prices a bit on higher side for what you're getting in the end, and that includes the mid-week rates. Getting back to our most recent stay specifically... unfortunately, there was an extensive leak in the room, requiring the improvisional use of several cups and buckets on our end during our stay. The dripping even woke my partner up in the middle of the night and disrupted his sleep. Upon telling the front desk and manager, not much was done really. They did apologize and seemed concerned for the structure (rightfully so) but we were a bit surprised and disappointed that zero compensation was offered - even after we explained how we had lost sleep working to save the couch and carpet from being further damaged. We also had trouble with some of the lighting fixtures, and arrived to find more than one burnt out bulb.

We had a great experience. Had a girls weekend and couldn't have been happier. The only thing is the hot tub lids are too hard to open and close we needed help. We rented the elk condo.

Fantastic room with clean amenities and great attention to detail! The restaurant was very classy and the food was delicious! The service very polite and friendly! The front attendant even spotted me a couple batteries for my GPS when mine died. a great winter retreat!
