My husband and I are absolutely livid. And my motto is to never write something angry. But besides being angry, we're hurt. Jimmy will lure you in with promises and a kind smile. He will come across as a wonderful older gentleman who is trying to share the gift of music... We recently purchased a student violin. (And I now use this term loosely) We were quite wary on the initial purchase but he said it was a good practice violin, perfect for anyone who is starting out. We worked out a payment plan, and he said if it didn't work out, we could return it for a full refund or we can trade it in- full purchase price for something else. During my practicing, it came to be quite obvious that the thing could not keep the E string in tune. It would constantly drift back down to D. A whole step down. My husband (who is a guitarist) played with it and tried to up-tune it... String snapped. This is when our sinking feeling started to settle in, but we had hope as we read online that violin's are tricky to tune. We took it to another speciality shop to have it looked at and the string replaced. Here is what we found out. 1) This is a toy. This is a PLYWOOD violin. 2) The perfling was PAINTED on 3) The strings we're a knock off/replica of something better. (Sorry, the lady at the other shop told me the name but I don't remember) 4) The action was TOO high to accomplish anything. 5) The bridge was not made to fit the model of the violin 6) The fingerboard was sticking out the sides of the neck. 7) No instruction on how delicate and sensitive this insturment is to temputure, and humidity, cleaning practices, loosing the bow after practice... The shop that "diagnosed" our toy we're so helpful and kind. And I am thankful they didn't downright laugh at us. They did replace the string at no charge, and fixed it so it should hold that E better... Safe to say, I was crushed. As someone who really wants to play this beautiful insturment, I was just heartbroken. We went to return it Saturday, but the shop was not open. Closed Sunday and Monday. Husband went to return it while I was at work today. Jimmy would not live up to the verbal contract we made when we initially bought the violin. (We should have had it written down) He conviently pointed to a "No Refunds" sign that was buried on his desk. Yeah, he had to dig it out in order for him to point to it. He then said the we had the insturment too long for a valid refund.(Final payment was April 15th) He said the insturment was fine, a quality item. Eventually, after MUCH debating, he did give us an in-store credit. Nothing has a price tag, so we are sure when we go to use this credit it will conveniently not be enough to cover the new item. Please be careful when purchasing an instrument, especially from this store. We've only bought the violin so I cannot say anything to the other items he sells in shop. Always, always do your homework. And when in doubt, seek a second opinion!

I have finally learned to be wary the ever talking salesman. Jimmy is this. I've decided to edit the original review in the best interests of the reader. I brought an accordion in for repair - and after three months of waiting the repairs actually made the accordion worse. There was intentional deceit as I was charged for new parts but no parts were changed. At the end I was told there was further repairs required to make the accordion work at which point I paid for the 'repair' and left the store. I am still owed a 'special' cable that Jimmy said he would call when it is ready and it has been about a year. Jimmy, if you are reading this, you owe me a 'special' cable + interest. There are a few other things I realized about Jimmy and Harmony Lane after I left - none of them good. DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE FOR ANY REASON - MY WORST EXPERIENCE AS A CUSTOMER ANYWHERE !!!

Really beyond belief, insulting, maddening and saddening. Kept our instrument to be repaired for over 2 years, including our down payment, and when finally returned, and we paid for the work he claimed to have done, we took the accordion home and saw that nothing had been done, not even the cleaning he charged $100 for, except for the replacement of a button. This cost us $350 and 2 years without the instrument. He would have nothing to do with us when we went back.
