The professional work of the Physio Dept is beyond words. The time and effort that the physiotherapist put into my care is truly remarkable. The progress I made in my recovery is ALL due to their endeavours.

I feel morally compelled to post a review so that people considering the Hardisty nursing home as an option of long-term care for a loved one are aware of the abysmal nature of care, lack of empathy .It is my perception they have very little respect for the residents or their personal dignity. My mother was assigned the Hardisty nursing home after the hospital and it became imperative that I get my mother out that horrific situation as soon as possible.

My grandparents were in this home when it first opened and when both of them died the funeral home said we should sue the home because they had huge bed sores on their bottoms. Then recently my friend had her mother there and she was never dressed for the day and remained in a recliner the whole day. I would rather be homeless than be put in this home.

My Parent Was There and Boy We were Disappointed. The Building Was An Old Apartment Building That Was Converted Into A Nursing Home in The 1950's Or 60's. Hasn't Been Updated as Far as I Can Tell . They Don't Really Spend Time With Residents. They Just Plop Them In Front Of The TV and Don't Talk To Them. Unless Of Course You Are Their Favorite, Like I Was Informed When My Parent Was Switched Into A New Room. We Were Told That They Did Exercises with my parent and Had Them up and walking. That was a lie as My Parent Could Barely Walk 15 Steps. Bedrooms are So Small The Residents Can Almost Reach Out and Touch The Head Or Foot of Roommate. Bathroom So Small You Can Not Fit A Wheelchair or a Commode Inside. Staff Do Not Call Residents by Their Names. They Call Them Momma or Poppa and Grandma Or Grandpa. This Is Not Good For Dementia Patients. They Would Think That That Person Is Somehow Related and Get More Confused. Very Disappointed. Because Of Their Policy With Covid, I Couldn't Come and See My parent Even Though I Was An Essential Persons For Mental Health Reasons. So Was Not Allowed Up From October 2020 ( a Few Weeks After Arriving) Until Move. Other Facilities In and Around Edmonton Had Visits Back In Late November. I Couldn't Visit Until Feb 2021. Too Long Between Visits For Someone With Dementia. No Recreational Programs, No Physio, No Occupational Therapy. So Basically All The Staff Did Was Get Residents Up On Somedays and Feed Them, Then Plop Them In Front Of A TV. No Talking To Them Or Anything. Mental Health Suffers Greatly If Residents Are Not Being Engaged In Conversation. Very Happy that My Parent No Longer Lives There.

The rehab physio team is excellent. They have gone above and beyond. My uncle was able to regain good mobility and our family is grateful. Staff are friendly and experienced. The building is older but it is comforting that when you walk in you see lots of staff.

This is an old building that seems dark inside. Our friend we were visiting was in a room at the end of a dead end hallway. Everything is old. It seems kind of depressing. I can’t imagine what it must be like living here but it can’t be great. The actual place where the building is nice, it borders a ravine. The areas that I saw were clean.

My uncle, who had multiple care issues, was admitted to the Transitional Care Unit at Hardisty. The rehab therapy team was excellent and my uncle did very well. Our family is pleased with the care. Hardisty is an older building. It does not have fancy frills and may not appeal to the snooty lot, but the care is good and the staff are very experienced.

Our family is pleased with the care. We recently attended a care conference to review my grandad's care plan and it opened my eyes to all the "behind the scenes" work that goes into caring for the residents at Hardisty. My grandad can be difficult at times, yet the staff are so patient. A big thank you to the staff.
