About Habaneros Mexican Grill

Once upon a time, "Dos Güeros" (or two white guys from Canada) had property in Mexico and they enjoyed eating all the great street food there. But, they couldn't find any food like that when they came back to Canada.

So, brothers Jim and Don started hiring a chef down in Cabo San Lucas to teach them all the secrets and the traditional recipes.

For a while, this good stuff was just for family and friends, or maybe the occasional office potluck. Then one day, they saw a popular restaurant for sale in Leduc. They bought it, and added their traditional Mexican flavours and dishes to the strong Tex-Mex menu that was already in place.

What makes us unique is we take the food we love to eat in Mexico, and interpret it for a Canadian audience here in the Capital Region. We pride ourselves on bold flavours, hand-made salsas, and fresh ingredients. We hope you'll agree that it feels just like being back in Mexico when you come to Habaneros.

I like it there. Margarita could use a little more flavour but food is good atmosphere is nice. It’s worth the drive for a good taco. I gave a 5 but my tacos just had a sour flavour that I wasn’t ready for. But all in all everything else was great

Tried this place once, and got 3 different tacos (tongue, brisket and chicken) and the prawn enchiladas. All the meat was incredibly dry. The brisket was definitely not actually brisket, rather some kind of overcooked steak. The tongue was chewy and tasted stale. The chicken was super dry. The prawn enchiladas were ok, and somehow all the rice that came with the meals was undercooked. We were actually surprised at how they managed to do everything so poorly. Haven't eaten in the restaurant and maybe that's better, or maybe I just got an unusually bad cook but I'm not interested in trying again based on this experience. If you can swing the extra drive head to a certain Mexican place in Sherwood park, it's night and day and the prices are actually better. Or head to the Mexican place in Argyll in Edmonton - similar prices but much better food.

Habaneros is an amazing restaurant!!! The nachos were to die for. I got the Camarones del Diablo as my main course. The flavours are amazing and seemed very authentic! I extremely recommend the Jalapeno Caesar, apparently they won an award for it :) It comes with a bacon wrapped jalapeno popper on top which was soooo good. Overall very cute family style restaurant with good vibes, cute decorations, and friendly staff!! Everyone must try!

This was our first time here and we will be going back soon. I had the margarita and it was perfect. My husband had the shrimp enchilada's and I had the beef tostado's. Our meals were delicious! We then shared the churro's - yum. I forgot to take pictures of our meals because we were so excited to eat it! But you must go - you won't be disappointed.

Where do I start ... to be called Mexican food, the truth is that they lack a lot, (gentlemen, the tacos do NOT have cabbage...just on fish tacos and not all the time) First of all, the beans taste like a can, the rice is hard, the tongue that was what I ordered from tacos, it has no flavor, it is supposed to have sauce and maybe it was a free sample because not even for a taco I could reach it and the tortillas were better or we didn't even talk. Please if you are going to say that it is Mexican food, try a little more, as a Mexican I really felt sorry for others. What if I can say, congratulations to whoever packed my food, the drawing of a cow on the packaging was truly divine! I give the place 2 stars because they have a great sense of humor.

Absolutely delicious! Found this gem in Leduc and it’s probably the best Mexican food in all of Alberta. A tad pricey but you’re paying for the quality so no complaints. Portions are huge too :)

Super delicious food, Can’t go wrong here!! One star less for lack of service. Had to reorder a couple times and wasn’t given a heads up of the kitchen being closed. But food is spot on! The hard iced tea was super smooth and good.
