H&R Block - Calgary

Had previous great experience but not this year.. $390 to file taxes is way too much for 15 minutes of their time. No thanks I'll head somewhere else.

This place is AWESOME. They're super friendly, and helped by husband and I get the absolute best deal for our tax returns. We had several backlogged years to file, and they took such good care of us. I will ALWAYS go here to get my taxes done, I cannot say enough good things about them!

Booked an appointment 2 days ago, got in in the morning today, dropped off all my paperwork, she called me to confirm a couple things, came back in before noon and Kristine Remo tax professional had my tax return all figured out without me even being there, so quick and in such a professional manner. The receptionist and her are very kind. I am very impressed with how quick and easy that was and for the convenience drop-off style tax session. Kristine Remo is the best tax professional! Go see her!

I’ve been getting my Taxes done at this location since 2020. Never had any issues and it’s always done fairly quickly.

We have been working with H&R Block for four years in a row. In the 660- 9737 Macleod branc, Ms. Nataliya Patenta processed our taxes and she was very professional and kind. Also, Anamika and Kassandra were extremely helpful and friendly in answering tax-related issues. Thank you so much for your dedication, kindness and discount.

I would not recommend H&R Block for US taxes. This is a complaint against two different H&R block locations: Southland Crossing (9737 MacLeod Trail) and Downtown (225 7 ave SW) for their lack of transparency, professionalism and care for their clients. After two different appointments with them, I have lost 2 hours of my time and still do not have an accountant to get my taxes done. I made an appointment online with the Southland Crossing office for US taxes, making sure they had a US tax expert at that location. Their US tax “expert’’ calls me the day before the appointment to confirm what I needed and the documents I had. I arrive for my appointment, wait for 20 minutes as the receptionist initially ignores me as she is on the phone. Immediately, at the beginning of the appointment, the accountant appears uncomfortable and keeps on looking at a binder with what appears to be a summary of what to do for US taxes. She then tells me that my situation is too complicated (When I do not know how it could be simpler) and that she doesn’t have the skills to assist me. She refers me to the downtown location where the senior H&R US tax expert is located. I call the downtown location right away. I am initially told that their US tax expert schedule is very busy, but I get an appointment 2 weeks later (April 13th). I make sure to confirm that their US tax expert would be able to assist me with my taxes to prevent a similar situation to Southland Crossing. I am assured that that person is their best and most senior US tax expert and that they would be able to assist me. The person also mentions that most other US tax experts are still “juniors”. On April 13th, the day of my appointment, I call the downtown office to confirm my appointment with their US tax expert as I did not get any confirmation (phone or email). I get the confirmation that my appointment is that afternoon with that specific person. I show up to the downtown location to be told that my appointment had been made with another accountant, who is not a US tax expert and that she could not assist me with my taxes. I am also told that US taxes are complicated and take hours to complete, and they would only be filed for May/June (Without knowing about my situation; I only have a W-2 for a US resident alien while being a non-resident in Canada). Mind you, the deadline for US taxes is April 18th (Which the tax professional at the front desk was not aware of). So at this point, I am almost happy that H&R block offices showed me how incompetent and uncaring their teams are, as I would not trust them to handle my taxes.
