★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Note that this area is a problem for over-use in terms of parking and has led to issues with fire/EMS access and with water brought in to ACC. High likelihood that this will soon be a No Parking zone with towing.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Be sure you are accessing the correct trail. The echo canyon trail (used to access rock climbing) is dangerous, steep, and full of objective hazard. As far as the "quad" goes (Grotto, Lady Mac, Ha Ling, and Eeor), Grotto is by far the worst of the bunch. Steep, loose, gruelling climbing in the trees for a long period of time. The views are fantastic, but Eeor/HaLing are far better return on investment... even Lady Mac is more aesthetic.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fantastic mountain hike with easily navigable terrain (mostly) but remember to bring bear spray. They are populous here. FYI if you encounter smells of putrefaction theres a high probability a bear is nearby so slowly retreat towards your original path.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you do this trail out and back I do not find it to be dangerous with lots of skill required though it is still a high altitude summit. There is very little up and down to get to summit so it is basically straight up and straight down which will be exhausting for most.
I did it in winter and fresh snow made the ridge loop very questionable and dangerous so just did the out and back style.
If doing the ridge please note the ridge is very narrow and long and would not be for everyone and would be considered a dangerous one if you do the full loop.
Please avid doing the full loop in winter. Cornice and snow drifts that alter the location of the long ridge walk make it very dangerous in winter. Not adviseble for 99.9% of people.
