Triage nurses are very rude here, give you no help but like to snap at you when you ask how much longer it will be when you have been there for 3hrs already. Are they not supposed to be caring not, if your unhappy go somewhere else to work or quit your job, people don't need that.

I went to ER on Monday 20th September 2021 at around 5:30 am. The upfront staff - i dont know the name of the receptionist but she was very rude. I was dying of pain. At that point i didnr know that i was having deadly pain due to ectopic pregnancy. I threw up right in front of the counter but she was busy in cleaning the surface rather sttending me…finally after an hour they got me in to dictor and they took like 4 hours to diagnose. Its fine as they have to get to the root of the pain in my lower abdomen and to stomach. Later on doctors took good care of me. But the EPL team didnt follow up for my pregnancy loss. Doctors were really nice and took care of mine however the receptionist that day was very rude and unprofessional. They should have sympathy and they should be taking care of patients as soon as possible..thats why they are in the nursing profession to take care of people and help them anytime possible.

Yesterday morning, I had 2 episodes of soft black stool followed by mild to severe abdominal pain. The pain started around noon then started to get worst so I went to emergency department. I reach around 3 30 pm. I had to get a wheelchair, however someone push me cause I couldn't walk due to the pain. I cried in the waiting area from around 4 30 straight to about 8 30 when my name was called and they wheeled me to see a doctor. They ordered morphine and graval, I told them I hallucinate with graval they change order to IV buscopan . I was poked 9 times and still no iv access, I cried out all my tears, then I beg them to call doctor and requested the morphine IM, I finally got it around 9 30 pm and I slept til around 11 pm. I am saddened by the unconcerned attitude of the nurses and I allude this all to covid and it allies but I thank God the pain is gone. I did no ultrasound, and they did not address my black stool and severe distended abdomen, they only treated my symptoms. Please if u are sick and its not covid stay home and pray to God

Alberta website says 2hrs and 15 min Ive been here 4hrs now paid 27dollars for parking, and have not left my chair. Came here because of a possible rupture appendix, Advil is all wore off and nobody that I talked to really cares. I was told it depends on how urgent you are, seriously ? why else would I come here!!!!!

Stay away from this ER at all costs. I recently fell down a flight of stairs and was in excruciating pain. I went to the UofA - ER and the wait was 6 hours, so I left and went to Grey Nuns, as Alberta Health Services website showed a 3 hour wait time here. I arrived at 8pm and was triaged by 8:45. I had to sit in the worst pain, crying in tears. I had to wait in line at Triage nurse several times for over 1 hour, to check on my status. I was given 2 Advil gel pain meds from a patient waiting, because she felt so bad for me, sitting in tears and pain. At one point, I went to Triage as I was in so much pain, I felt I was becoming paralyzed. The nurse took my blood pressure, and it hurt too much, so I asked her to please take it off. The nurse then replied "oh you don't want me to help you, fine". I'm thinking, animals get treated better than this barbaric ER. She proceeded to tell me to sit down and she would check with her superior if I could have 3 OTC Tylenols. That's all they will give, until you see the doctor. I sat back down, crying all night and didn't see a doctor until 5-6am. So essentially 10 hour wait time. I am so disgusted in the lack of compassion and cannot believe that in this day and age, a person who experiences a severe blunt force trauma, is required to sit in an ER for a total of 13 hours, by the time I was discharged. In my opinion this place is Barbaric at best. I will surely be following up with hospital higher ups, to make a formal complaint about the Triage nurse who treated me with so much disregard. Top it off, I was wrongfully diagnosed and ended up with fracture and partial tears in my shoulder and the ER Physician discharged me, with no fractures. It's been weeks following up with my GP to get properly diagnoses. Sub-par medical care at best.

I’ve seen some bad reviews before I went and I thought it would be helpful to provide insight. If you go to the emergency room and you’re not having an actual emergency, it will take you a while to be seen. I had some GI bleeding and could’ve gotten seen much sooner if I had gone to walk in clinic like many people should have instead (I couldn’t personally because I also had Covid). No dire emergency = the people actually in an emergency being seen before you. That’s why the wait is long. If you go to the hospital and you have Covid, you’ll be put in isolation ward. Very empty and quiet, because you have Covid or suspected of and they can’t risk you walking around getting other sick people more sick. The room was a bit run down and the paint was cracked and chipped in many places, only reason I removed a star. Once you get seen they’re quick with the testing and results. Very polite staff. If you don’t have a dire emergency where you might be actually dying, you’re going to be waiting while they treat the people that are. Lots of people in these reviews should’ve gone to a walk in or booked a regular doctors appointment.

Absolutely amazing experience here tonight, I went in and was served quickly, all the nurses I had the privilege of dealing with were kind and compassionate, they were thorough in testing and quick with getting treatment. By far the best hospital experience I’ve had in Edmonton. Will definitely be choosing this hospital anytime I can from now on.

All the triage nurse’s where really nice and kind! I had clearly did some damage to my ankle (turns out it is actually broken) I was giving an ice pack when I arrived and a wheel chair. However there was no way to elevate my leg which kind of sucked but it was so busy in there I totally understand! My accident happened around 7:30 pm so I couldn’t go to urgent care or my family doctor so I had to go the ER, I knew that wait time was going to be long. So I came prepared. Took about 3-4 hours before I was taken back for X-rays. Then around another hour to find out the results and get a cast. So about 5 hours total I was expecting much worse. Every doctor/nurse/staff I interacted with was so kind and respectful. If you don't have a actual emergency where you might be actually dying, you're going to be waiting while they treat the people that are. A lot of the people in these reviews should've gone to a walk in or booked a regular doctors appointment. Use you brain! A cold is not an emergency!!
