Lovely stop traveling through Red Deer. The tea cookies are crisp and tender. The tea options are impressive. You are greeted with friendly faces and treated to comfort food. If you haven’t stopped in yet, make sure you do next time you are close by.

After being a loyal patron to Glenn’s Restaurant for over 12yrs I will never return. I brought droves of customers, employees, and family members with me to this establishment over the years. The restaurant has had their good and bad days like any business, but none quite like today. I sat at a corner booth with my girls who smiled and said “please and thank you” for everything as they always do. The waitress was very pleasant to the Caucasian girls and we noticed she was very curt and changed her demeanour towards those of us with colour. We accepted that the food was delayed for quite some time (she later made a passing apology for the wait, but we have waited on them many times before and never complained). We continued treating her warmly and tipped her like we always tip the staff. I returned as I forgot a personal item in our haste to leave as a result of the wait for our food. I asked the manager (Doug) to have a private word quietly as my group and I quickly conferred about it outside the restaurant and felt quite unsettled by the experience still. I told him that I wanted to leave a comment/complaint with him regarding the server’s demeanour toward the coloured girls. He cut me off, interrupted me regularly, made other combative references to steer the conversation away from the objective and assured me that because she (I believe he called her justice - and knew who I was speaking about without me having to point her out) has “native blood running through her veins so she could not be racist” and it must be something else. He said “because I know her, I’m on her side and I don’t believe you”. He later repeated “it’s in her DNA so she is not racist”. That is not how racism works. That is not how professionalism and management should work. He further accused my upset as a result of Covid/pandemic rage or something of the sort and ensured me that it was not a true complaint of discrimination. This was shocking. I was not able to find an avenue to speak to the owner’s of the restaurant and Doug had told me that he was the owner. He spoke in a very condescending tone the entire conversation while trembling and demanded to know my name (which I told him at the beginning of the conversation already) and the name of my businesses (which is irrelevant in the face of a complaint for discrimination towards customers). He again let me know that he was the owner of the business and it was his family business and always has been. The website said otherwise but if this is true that is troubling as there will be no accountability for his words. If it is not true, it’s concerning that he would make that up. I would prefer to not leave a comment publicly and deal with this privately, leaving a word with proper management that could look into the matter directly but I have no leads on a contact. Additionally, Doug let me know the only option was a manual comment card (which could be easily discarded). It is very disheartening to see a business which we loved and frequented often end ties this way. I hope things change for the better in the future for this business.

Glenn's restaurant is awesome! The tea available in the shop is available in the restaurant and it's a good old fashioned diner. Super tasty and great service! The cinnamon buns are huge! Leave room for one and share with a friend or bring it home!

Great breakfast stop. Wife loved her french toast with fruit and whipped cream. Large portion. I had the bacon, eggs, sausage. Was delicious. Only complaint would be over easy eggs were over cooked. But will definitely return.

Great restaurant with a fantastic selection of tasty home style meals and teas. Never been disappointed with our selections and have tried many different items on the menu. The giant cinnamon bun is as delicious as it is large, big enough to share and still have some left to take home. The service here is incredibly friendly and attentive. The staff are always smiling and happy. Highly recommended!

Very nice stop for breakfast, amazing service and food quality

For over 30 years, I have enjoyed Glenn's as a family tradition passed down many generations! Still today, it has been a favorite spot for any meal of the day - breakfast being #1! Today it became a place to reunite with friends from afar during a difficult time. On a brisk, yet quiet morning, everything was superior here including food, service and hospitality! As long as that teapot keeps pouring, my wife and I will be back! A+
