This place is now called Gokusen, so older reviews don't apply. It's simple, no frills, in terms of decor but clean and comfortable. I've tried every sushi place in Ottawa in the last 10 years and this restaurant was a real surprise! Sashimi pieces were thick and fresh, rolls perfectly executed, fresh and generous. Nice presentation too. Torched sushi was nice. Great value for the sushi sashimi combo at 49.95. Feeds two adults. See picture.

Ginza used to have pretty decent and authentic Ramen. But this last time was very disappointing. Broth (tonkatsu miso) - lacked flavor, definitely no strong meaty flavor and not seasoned enough. No pork flavor, basically it seemed watery with cream in it rather then pork marrow/fat to make it white. Chasu (pork belly) - the flavor was good but it was a bit undercooked (tough) and sliced inconsistently in thickness. Egg - this is my biggest gripe it was just a hardboiled cold egg. This used to be soft boiled and marinated and warmed up by the broth but it was not even soft boiled this time. I'm just glad I didn't pay for an extra egg this time. Bamboo - this was the Chinese canned type not bamboo shoots Mushroom - they were charred fresh mushrooms not their original thin sliced fermented mushrooms either. They tasted ok though. Overall the quality of the ramen has gone from a 4/5 to 2/5 maybe even a 1... sensothai is so much better I would not go to ginza anymore for ramen. Ginza did add a pokebowl to their new menu I would like to try though. I hope their old ramen recipe comes back it is really unfortunate that it is not the same at all anymore. No black garlic oil available either.

My wife and I have been coming here for years! Its a great family run business that serves fresh and very tasty sushi at a VERY reasonable cost. I find this really hard to find in Ottawa but this place does it! I highly highly recommend this place if you want GOOD sushi without breaking the bank.

Very small shop with amazing ambience. I love how they had J-Pop music on the background, specially AKLO's Lost in Paradise just when the Ramen got served. Definitely my go to Ramen shop everytime I'd go to Ottawa. Arigato ghozaimasu....

Sashimi was nice, very fresh and well cut for the most part. The tuna was chewy though and not that great. The excellent mackerel made up for it. Would have given this place 4 stars, but there was a hair in the food which was definitely not mine and I lost my appetite 3/4 way through. I know things like that happen on occasion, but it’s still gross and should have been noticed as it was between 2 pieces of white fish.

went here to order 1 portion of grilled pork vermicelli. but it must be said that the quality is not commensurate with the price, the meat is dry, tasteless, the vermicelli is very dry, feel its crispness. The dipping sauce is very bland. But i heard my boyfriend said ramen here very good, so i'll come next time for that soup, and i get them 3 starts and wait after !

Ginza is now "Gokusen", and to anyone else looking for good sushi... this is the place in Ottawa. The older gentleman working here works absolute magic, and was so welcoming. Every Maki roll I had was amazing; even the soy sauce was excellent and in a cool little reused sake bottle. The Miso that was served with our meal was literally the best I've ever had in my life. 200/10 for that Miso alone. They even had a little bit of imported real wasabi paste that changed my life. In summary: the best sushi experience I've ever had. I can't recommend this restaurant enough!!
