Since a very early age I prided myself in maintaining my physical fitness, core strength, balance and an ideal BMI(about 20). Over many years I developed aches and pains, attended physics, massage Tx, personal trainers, etc. At age 73 I majorly injured my low back lifting and carrying heavy balls of clay(to transplant milkweed) The next day the pain in my back and down my leg was excruciating and I developed a foot drop…which scared me. I was in Victoria BC at the time and just randomly, in desperation, found Andrew M, a physiotherapist, who was eventually able to alleviate much of the pain over 2 months(2x/wk). Andrew M then recommended Andrew Jordan Hall at Functional Movement Victoria…and I found out that over many years I had unconsciously developed dysfunctional/harmful posture, gait and movement patterns as a protective response to my increasing pain. The personal trainers whom I had had over the years had identified 1 or 2 things that I should work on but never tied all my problems together. Over the course of 3 months(2x/wk)of working with Andrew, I feel like a new person. Andrew is extremely patient and very persistent in trying to help me change some of those harmful patterns. I still have work to do…years and years of compensating isn’t going to be undone quickly. The training embodied in functional patterns is very precise and exact…there are no quick fixes. It takes patience and hard work for both the trainer and the trainee..but it is definitely worth the effort. I feel my effort and my money have and will continue to be well worth the hard work. Thank you Andrew!
