A Note From Debra
Founder, President, and Brand Visionary.

We opened the doors in 2005. At the start, there were just a few of us and we were a tiny boutique. We made all our products in very small batches, put the labels on, and tied all the bows ourselves. We only had one or two estheticians working on a daily basis. It takes a lot of time and effort to start a boutique and to launch a product line. Things start very slow.

I loved what we were doing so much, and wondered if people would love what we were doing too.

It took me at least three years of planning to fully develop the idea of Frilly Lilly. I would create vision boards, read design books, go to antique shops, work with chemists, and a long list of other things. Some small details changed over the years, but I always wanted to create a beauty boutique. I wanted to have our own signature bath and body care products too. In this way, I knew I would love every part of Frilly Lilly.

I was fortunate to have the help from my children and friends: Lisa, Jeremy, Claudia, and Carly all helped our very first boutique grow, and flourish. I’m so grateful for their contributions to our development, some of which continue today.

Shortly after we opened, I was in Las Vegas for a business trip. I don’t know what motivated me to do it, but I decided I wanted to show our products to a few businesses. After putting so much effort into developing our products, I think I was hoping for some feedback.

The first place I visited was the Palms Hotel, and they decided to place an order on the spot! We had never planned on selling our products to businesses other than Frilly Lilly boutiques, it caught us off-guard. W were completely unprepared for such immediate appreciation and demand. The next two places I visited were the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas and Fred Segal in Los Angeles. They both placed orders. We were all so shocked, and excited. Not to mention it was extremely encouraging receiving such unbridled support from trendsetting businesses so early on.

Within a few years, our first boutique was successful, and we had other businesses carrying Frilly Lilly products. At that point, I felt prepared to open more Frilly Lilly boutiques. I was passionate about the idea of being able to expand our female-founded company, as well as providing other women with the opportunity for leadership and entrepreneurship. I wanted to give women the tools they needed to be empowered and successful.

Our next boutiques opened in 2009 in Calgary’s McKenzie Towne, and in Victoria (BC). Shortly after, we opened our Aspen, and Crowfoot Corner boutiques in Calgary, and our boutique in Vancouver’s trendy Yaletown. We garnered more and more acclaim for our space, products, and services. All the while, strong female candidates presented themselves in the running to open their own Frilly Lilly boutiques in their own neighbourhoods, and cities.

There are still times when I’m shocked that we have more than one boutique. I’m so proud of everything we have accomplished. It’s hard for me to believe that not long ago, there was only a handful of us doing the best we could to bring a dream to life. The community we’ve created is better than I could have dreamed, and I am so excited to see where we grow next!

I had my first visit here today for a Brazilian wax, I saw Nicole. She was excellent. It was the most comfortable Brazilian I have ever gotten to this day. She was very friendly and was easy to chat with during the appointment. I’ve already recommended her to a couple of people. Thank you Nicole, I will be back!

I came in today for a full Brazilian wax and it was such a pleasant experience. Kristen helped me out, and was professional and friendly, and really did an amazing job. She was fast, thorough, and talked to me through the entire thing. The receptionist was very polite and kind as well. Thank you Frilly Lilly <3

I'm not sure how many stars I would give but I'll give 3 for now. This is my 2nd time getting a Brazilian Wax and I booked it with Mariya because I had a good experience for my first wax. And on my 2nd, I was not really impressed. When I had my first wax, it took about 30-35 mins, but with my 2nd it was only 10-15 minutes. It felt rushed, and I was not waxed thoroughly. I went home and checked how it was and I felt some hairs that were not waxed. I know it's normal for my skin to turn red after waxing, but mine was different. It was very red and painful. On my first time, she would let me know if she's waxing a big part, but on my 2nd time, she didn't. I don't even know how to describe how I felt when she removed a big one. After she waxed it she said, "that was a big one" which I replied "Yeah, I felt it." I recommended my friends getting a brazilian wax because of my first experience, and now I don't know if I should keep getting it since I'm not sure if they will treat me the same as my 2nd time.

Really nice job until it was time to leave. I was sent home in flip flops and its winter!! and told to wait an hour for the polish to dry before putting shoes and socks on. I was also sent home with wet fingernails without going under the dryer and the nail polish on the manicure was promptly ruined as soon as I got in the car. You can't carry purse, boots and keys 5 minutes after getting your last coat without mishaps. Now, after paying for it I have to remove all the nail polish on my fingernails..Luckily the pedicure polish managed to survive. Driving with flipflops in winter was a little bit of a challenge though. I won't be back. I have never been to a place that sends you home with wet nails even though was a dryer sitting right beside us??

I emailed this location directly regarding this issue and their response was very poor. I hate giving poor reviews but feel like I need to share my experience. My pedicure (non shellac) started chipped after only 2 days and my shellac manicure didn't event last 7 days to my wedding day :( They offered me a $10 credit but sadly I don't want to go back.

I came in today for my very first Brazilian wax and Kristen was absolutely amazing! I felt comfortable from beginning to end of the service. She talks you through all the not so painless parts, instructs you when to breathe in and out and is very clear as to what she is going to do. I loved how she checked in periodically and reminded me if I needed breaks. She is also very knowledgeable about her work and definitely made my first experience great! Thank you so much Kristen!
